New Feature: Just Work Out Offline Mode – Take some Peloton workouts offline with no internet connection in the app

Peloton has updated the Just Work Out feature so that it can operate completely offline with no internet connection, allowing members to utilize Just Work Out even if they do not have wifi access or cellular.

If you open the Peloton app without an internet connection, you will now see a prompt stating:

“No connection? No problem.
You can still track an activity while offline. Workouts will sync to your profile when you’re back online.”

The prompt includes a button called “Track activity,” which will bring you to the Just Work Out feature. With the update, you can now use Just Work Out even though your app is not connected to the internet.

After you finish your workout, the next time you connect your device to the internet, the completed workout will sync to your Peloton profile.

It is currently unclear how the syncing of data may affect daily and weekly streaks. For example, if you complete Just Work Out in offline mode at the end of one day, but the workout does not sync until the following day, it is unclear whether you would still receive the blue dot – signifying an active day with Peloton – on the day you actually completed the workout.

Note that this offline ability only applies to Just Work Out; standard classes still necessitate the “preload” feature, which requires an internet connection in order to start the class.

This feature was initially teased in Peloton’s Q2 2024 earnings letter on February 1, 2024.

The Just Work Out feature allows members to receive Peloton credit for any workouts completed outside of a traditional instructor-led Peloton class. The feature launched in 2022 and soon expanded to new modalities. Peloton also added “Just with Goals,” which enables members to add a specific goal – such as a particular distance, time, or output – to their workout.

Do you envision yourself using Just Work Out in offline mode, now that this new feature is available?
