The Peloton Tread+ is Now Available for Pre-Order in the United States with $1,000 Introductory Pricing Discount

After a more than 2.5 year hiatus, the Peloton Tread+ is officially available for sale again in the United States. As of 9:00am ET on December 6, 2023, the Tread+ is available to be pre-ordered via the Peloton website (affiliate link) for $4,995.

Note that Peloton previously communicated that the Tread+ would cost $5,995 – meaning that they are reintroducing the Tread+ with a $1,000 discount – or 16% off – upon launch.

The first deliveries are not expected to begin until early 2024.

The fine print on the website states that this is a limited time offer through January 9, 2024. This means that for the next month, the Tread+ will be available for the current $4,995 price. This also means we could see the Tread+ included in future Black Friday sales, and other such sales, as well in future years.

However, that price is only applicable until January 9. On January 10, the price of the Peloton Tread+ will increase to the previously communicated price of $5,995. The price of the accessory packages will increase as well on that date. Peloton also recently took this approach with introductory pricing when launching the Row in Canada.

This price does include shipping, delivery, and setup. Members will most likely want to add on an extended warranty as well (though this does not have to be done at time of purchase – you can call to add it on at any point of the first 12 months you own it).

In addition, Peloton is offering 0% financing on all loan term lengths. As always, the All Access membership required with any hardware device is a separate monthly cost.

Initially, the options for financing & extended warranty didn’t seem to be appearing on the website, but people had success adding them via chat or phone calls (and the website is advertising both options are available). Peloton has since updated their website, and you now should be able to add warranty or use financing when buying online.

As a refresher, Peloton has said that the first approximately 10,000 Tread+ devices are will be fulfilled by “existing inventory” – which entails the Tread+ devices Peloton previously manufactured and have had in warehouses throughout the recall. These would not be refurbished or returned devices – they are new, never sold units – that just happen to have been manufactured a few years ago.

Those initial 10,000 orders are expected to ship within six weeks of sales resuming. Once the first approximately 10,000 Tread+ devices have been sold, deliveries may take slightly longer, as Peloton will have to work with their manufacturing partners to have new Tread+ devices built and configured – as it has been more than 2.5 years since a Tread+ has been sold.

Note that Peloton has also indicated that they will not offer a trade in program for those interested in trading in their regular Tread for a Tread+. If you’re interested in learning more about the differences between the Peloton Tread & Peloton Tread+, check out our comprehensive comparison.

Peloton has recently confirmed that the only change made to the Tread+ since being recalled is the rear guard.

We previously shared that the Tread+ would become available for sale in December, though Peloton never pre-announced the date. The Tread+ is currently only relaunching in the U.S. – it is not available for sale in Peloton’s other markets of Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, or Austria.

The Tread+ has not been available for sale since 2021 due to a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall. After repeatedly reaffirming that they were working with the CPSC on a fix for the device, Peloton announced in their August 2023 earnings call that a rear guard had been approved to address previous safety issues, and the Tread+ will be available for sale during the 2023 holiday season.

All new orders will have the new rear guard already installed. Peloton has also reached out to existing Tread+ users to inform them that they can expect to receive information about scheduling an appointment to receive their free rear guard in early 2024.

Will you be looking to purchase a Peloton Tread+ now that it is once again available for sale?
