Weekly Class Purge: Nearly 4 Weeks of Peloton Classes Removed From On-Demand Library (August 7-September 2, 2019) on June 16, 2023

Peloton carried out another round of class library maintenance on June 16, 2023. This was the largest removal yet, with nearly four weeks’ worth of classes being removed. The exact classes impacted were those filmed between August 7 and September 2, 2019.

Only two classes were spared during this round, both from the Chainsmokers featured artist series:

This is the fourth week in a row Peloton has removed a minimum of three weeks’ worth of classes. Though it was one of the largest purges since the rollout of class library maintenance, only a couple of classes were saved. Peloton has previously shared that they may preserve some classes from an artist series, that are part of a program, or that are particularly popular with members for one reason or another.

However, this is not the case across the board. For example, Jess King’s MusicFest series – rides in which she explored famous music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Woodstock, and Tomorrowland – have not been spared in the most recent purges. Though not an official artist series, some members did expect these rides to be saved. Three different MusicFest rides were removed in this weeks’ class purges – from August 10th (Lollapalooza), August 17th (Woodstock), and August 24th (Stagecoach).

In addition, Matt Wilpers had a strength for runners class from August 28th that was fairly popular that was also purged.

Class library maintenance is Peloton’s removal of older classes from the on demand library that are now taking place more routinely on Friday, as announced in April of 2023. Purges have occurred on April 28, May 5, May 12, May 19, May 26, June 2, and June 9.

Around 21 weeks worth of classes have now been removed over the past 8 weeks. This is the majority of classes from April 1, 2019 – September 2, 2019.

Ugh. I feared this would happen! One of my favorite classes that I have done countless times got removed in the latest purge. I usually do Hannah Corbin’s 10 minute Seated Stretch from 8/8/2019 several times a week—it was a great class to do in my office in the afternoon when I needed to move a little. I will miss that class! I am not aware of any other class like it in the whole Peloton library. Anyone know of something similar?
