Small Updates at Peloton Studios NY: New Pre-Class Announcements & Color-Coded Lines Outside Bike Studio

In recent months, Peloton has been making some small changes for in-person classes at Peloton Studios New York.

The first of these is a new pre-class announcements, which is now in place in both the bike studio and tread studio.

For those who have not taken a class in person at PSNY, there is typically a set-up period for members to get situated in the studio before the instructor arrives. During this time Peloton staff will assist members to ensure they’re set up properly, and provide an idea of the sequence of events. Also during this time an individual from the production crew will speak from the control room over the loud-speaker, providing some pre-class information and an overview of what to expect, before announcing the instructor’s arrival.

However, the Peloton have now recorded their own introduction for their classes. This is played just before the instructor enters the room, and has the instructor giving instructions and an overview.

Once the announcement is over, there is a brief pause, then the instructor enters the room with the lights dimmed. A spotlight is then turned on to introduce the instructor teaching that class.

This is now being used in both the Bike studio and the Tread studio at PSNY.

Members have shared that it is a much more theatrical and polished experience, and that it seemed to help pump members up for the arrival of the instructor.

Another change has rolled out in recent days related to how members enter the bike studio (thanks to @philthy_nyc for sharing these pictures). Members are given color-coded cards based on whether they have a milestone, it is their first time at the studio, or it’s just a regular class (we recently shared that the order of entry changed).

Previously, all members would kind of mill around the entrance, waiting for their color to be called out. Some days the line would be more clearly formed than others.

To help with this, Peloton is now trying out having three distinct lines: one for each color group. The goal seems to be to help facilitate a more orderly entry into the bike studio.
