First Peloton New York City Marathon Scenic Class Released

Peloton has released the first scenic class related to the New York City Marathon. The class is 60 minutes in length and is called the “TCS NYC Marathon Highlights Run.”

Note that because scenic content is only accessible via the corresponding hardware device – in this case, a Tread or Tread+ – the class cannot be taken via the Peloton app. Though you can view the class via the web browser, it can only be started from a Tread or Tread+.

The TCS NYC Marathon Highlights Run is a time-based scenic class, meaning it is not guided by an instructor. The class appears to have been filmed on the 2022 course, following the elite runners. The course jumps around to fit all 26.2 miles within the 60 minute timeframe. Runners finish the race with women’s elite runner Des Linden. The default music is a Peloton Radio “I Love New York” playlist.

In October Peloton announced a multi-year partnership with the New York Road Runners (NYRR). The collaboration included a race bib contest, and promised that outdoor audio-only and scenic classes filmed from the marathon course were on the way. However, the timeline for the release of scenic content was Spring of 2024 – indicating that the TCS NYC Marathons Highlight Run is bonus content. The timeline provided for audio content was late 2023, meaning classes could be released within the next couple of months.

The 2023 New York City Marathon will take place on Sunday, November 5. Peloton instructors Rad Lopez, Mariana Fernández, Selena Samuela, Susie Chan, and Jeffrey McEachern will all be running. We anticipate both audio-only and scenic classes will be recorded and filmed from the 2023 race course.

Peloton has had a strong presence at the TCS New York City Marathon Pavilion throughout the past couple of days, including hosting a Shakeout Run on November 2 led by Peloton instructors and NYRR coaches.

In addition, Becs Gentry was recently announced as one of the broadcast contributors for ESPN2’s media coverage of the marathon. Peloton instructor Matt Wilpers also launched a new video series in anticipation of the 2023 New York City Marathon. Called “The Road to NYC Marathon Series,” Matt shares tips for training, recovery, and preparing for the NYC Marathon.
