Update from Peloton on inclusive sizing for lululemon x Peloton apparel & clothing

Peloton Apparel has shared an update for customers regarding inclusive sizing, specifically as it relates to the new Peloton x lululemon apparel collection.

Peloton posted the message via the @PelotonApparel Instagram account:

Peloton Apparel is committed to size inclusivity for our Members across our Peloton branded apparel and upcoming collaborations.

We are focused on introducing additional sizing in new lululemon styles in December of this year, adding more in 2024, with an ongoing commitment to a full assortment of inclusive sizing later in the calendar year.

Thank you for your feedback. We are always grateful when you take the time to share, and we hear you.

Peloton has been receiving pushback via social media about the sizing options for their new co-branded lululemon apparel collections. The first drop of the collection was released in October; and a second drop was released earlier this week.

Customers have expressed disappointment about the lack of larger sizes, especially for the women’s items & clothing. For example, the largest size on many of the Peloton x lululemon items is a 12 or 14 – which is not considered “plus size” by most retailers. Athleta, for reference, has sizes up to 26 and 3X.

Members have expressed concern that the lack of inclusive sizing runs counter to Peloton’s overall brand. Peloton had previously said that more inclusive sizing was on the way after the first collection drop in October; however, many members were frustrated to see that the second collection announced this week did not include a wider variety of sizes.

This latest message from Peloton indicates that additional sizing will be released as soon as next month, and throughout 2024.

Though some of the comments on the @PelotonApparel Instagram post are reacting to the update positively, many are still expressing disappointment that size inclusivity was not an intentional and strategic decision from the beginning.

Peloton and lululemon announced their 5 year global strategic partnership on September 27. We recently shared that lululemon is paying Peloton millions of dollars for their content.
