Peloton Instructor Mayla Wedekind is writing a book: “The sea, the wave and me” due out in April 2024

German Peloton instructor Mayla Wedekind will be the latest coach who can add “author” to their resume. Mayla announced that she is writing a book that will be released on April 4, 2024. There will be a paperback version, as well as a Kindle eBook version.

The book, which will be in German, is titled: “Das Meer, die Welle und ich: Was ich vom Surfen über Mut, Vertrauen und Loslassen lernte”. This roughly translates to “The sea, the wave and me: What I learned from surfing about courage, trust and letting go”

At this time, the book is only available in the German / EU Amazon stores, which you can find here (affiliate link).

The book description notes it is an autobiography, focused on her time before Peloton surfing (which she still does with her time off now).

The synopsis of the book translates to:

Water, waves, wind: When Mayla stands on the surfboard for the first time, it is the beginning of a special love story between her and the sea. From now on she spends every free minute on board. Whether it’s the ocean or the Baltic Sea – Mayla is talented, makes quick progress and holds her own in this boys’ world. Nevertheless, doubts keep coming back to haunt them: Am I good enough?, What if I fail? But wave after wave, Mayla learns to swim free: from feelings of entitlement and fears. From wanting to control everything and perfectionism. In her inspiring autobiography full of insights, Mayla shows what we can also learn from the sea – about courage, trust and the right flow in life.

Mayla’s author bio states that she “studied psychology, works as a Peloton fitness trainer and loves surfing. Immediately after school she went from northern Germany to Bali, where she lived for more than six years. Mayla inspires her clients and social media community with her smart, uncomplicated manner and her passion for surfing and the sea. ”

Mayla joins an ever growing list of Peloton instructors who are writing or have recently released books. Robin Arzón, Emma Lovewell, Cody Rigsby, Ben Alldis, and Alex Toussaint all have books that came out this year. Ross Rayburn has announced a book for next year. In addition, both Matty Maggiacomo and Christine D’Ercole have teased that they have books in the works as well.
