Peloton Working on a Fix for a Recent Bug with Cadence Sensor on iOS App

Peloton members who use the Peloton iOS app paired with a cadence sensor to take cycling classes on a non-Peloton bike may have noticed a bug in recent days.

Update – Peloton posted an update that the issue was fixed on Feb 21, 2024.

When a cadence sensor is connected, the rider’s cadence data will currently only display in portrait view. When the class is played in landscape mode – that data is missing. Rotating a phone from landscape to portrait mode will result in the cadence being shown again.

Note that this bug appears to only be affecting the iOS app, not the Android app. Peloton has posted an update to the status page, creating an official incident report:

Members who connect their cadence sensor are unable to see their metrics in landscape mode, member’s can workaround this issue by changing view to portrait mode. Team has identified the issue and a fix is in progress.

Although there were mixed reports on whether this was a purposeful removal or a bug, this status report confirms it is a bug.

Peloton first stated that they were investigating the issue on February 13; and they have since shared that they have identified the issue and are working on implementing a solution.

This suggests that members can expect an iOS app software update that will hopefully resolve the issue, and return the feature to its normal settings.

Thanks for this information! I’m having the same problem. Hopefully Peloton is sincere and really working on a fix……although this, combined with the price hike for app users makes me think that I may need to start looking for an alternative.

Subscribed to the Peloton Incedent report for updates the other day. Got an update today that it’s fixed but it’s not.

I subscribed to this incident report on Peloton. After updated the iOS as requested the issue still isn’t resolved. The Peloton website makes it impossible to contact them to let them know it still isn’t working. So frustrating

  • TATIANA GORT says:

My cadence still isn’t showing and I have the most recent iPhone update iOS 17.3.1

Today is one month later: this issue has not been resolved
