Peloton released new instructor Guided Scenic classes on the Tread/Tread+ earlier this week. In addition, there is also a brand new “Audio Guided Scenic” collection to make finding these classes easier.
This was first teased in the March 25th “This Week at Peloton” post.
In a twist from the majority of previous instructor-based scenic classes, these are audio narrated. In other words – you will not see the instructor on screen – instead, you’ll hear them narrate the class as you see standard scenic footage.
These are six new classes featured under the Tread’s Scenic content that are narrated by various Peloton instructors in English and German.
The six scenic classes range in duration from 10-30 minutes and can be found on the Peloton Tread and Tread+ on the home screen by clicking “More,” then “Scenic Run,” and going to the “Guided” class section.
Here is the full list of the new narrated Scenic classes available and the language they are narrated in.
- 10 min. Run, Barcelona, Spain – narrated by Jeffrey McEachern (German)
- 10 min. Walk, Madeira, Portugal – narrated by Mayla Wedekind (German)
- 20 min. Run, Munich, Germany – narrated by Tobias Heinze (German)
- 30 min. Hike, The Dolomites, Italy – narrated by Marcel Maurer (German)
- 20 min. Run, Crete, Greece – narrated by Jon Hosking (English)
- 30 min. Run, Tochigi, Japan – narrated by Joslyn Thompson Rule (English)
All six of the classes feature a class plan and target metrics so you have an idea what to expect regarding speed and incline cues during the class, and your expected output if you follow the target metrics.
The four German narrated classes currently offer German and English subtitles. Currently, Jon and Joslyn’s classes only offer English subtitles. Both Mayla’s 10 min. Walk and Marcel’s 30 min. Hike count as Walks towards your Peloton workout history, and the rest of the classes are Runs.
The classes also provide a description of the location under the Class Info. For example, for Jon’s 20 min. Run in Crete, the description reads:
“Escape the hustle and bustle of life as you’re running with Jon from the colourful harbour town of Chania to one of the most spectacular beaches in Greece.”
This is the second time Peloton has dropped audio-only Guided (a.k.a. instructor narrated) Scenic classes on the Tread. The first classes were two scenic Death Valley runs (30 min. and 90 min.) narrated by instructor Susie Chan. Those classes accompanied her Badwater 135 Documentary run which became available in January 2024.
With these new narrated scenic classes, Peloton also created a “Audio Guided Scenic” collection so members can find them more quickly. At this time, only the six new classes can be found in there – Susie’s two narrated Badwater classes have not been added at time of publishing.
The official description for the collection reads:
Workout around the world with your favorite instructors in new Audio Guided Scenic classes. All the beauty of our scenic classes, now with audio cues from our instructors pushing you forward.
As a reminder, scenic classes are only available on Peloton’s hardware devices (not available to take on the digital app). Make sure to check out our list of Scenic runs as we make updates to it.
Will instructor-narrated (audio-only) Guided classes be the new standard moving forward for Peloton’s Scenic content, rather than having instructors record classes in person in different locations? What do you think of this class style?
