Update to Peloton Referral Program: Primary account holder only

Update – As of October 2022, this change has been rolled back.

Peloton has made a small change today to their referral program, which allows existing members to share their unique code with new members so that both parties receive a discount on Peloton products.

Previously any user on a Bike or Tread device was given their own referral code; but as of today, only the account owner has the ability to share a referral code. The account owner is the individual who pays for the monthly subscription. You can find the account owner information for your membership by clicking on “more” on the Peloton App and navigating to “Memberships.”

Peloton sent an email to some members informing them of the change:

We are reaching out to share an update on our Referral Program. After great consideration, we have decided to limit our Referral Program to All-Access Membership owners to make room for a future evolution of our program. Therefore, as of today, All-Access Membership owners will be able to participate in the Referral Program.

All-Access Membership “owners” are the account holders who are charged on a monthly basis for their subscription. To change the owner of your account, please contact support@onepeloton.com. For more information on the Referral Program and your eligibility, please see the Referral Program Terms and Conditions here.

We appreciate your participation in our referral program and apologize for any disappointment this may cause. Any unused $100 apparel codes can still be used until their expiration date.

Referral codes allow a new member to receive $100 off of accessories with their hardware (Bike, Bike+, Tread, or Tread+) purchase. In return, the member who shared the code receives a $100 credit with Peloton Apparel. Peloton limits the number of referrals a member can share to 12 per calendar year.

This change does not affect Peloton App users, as they have not been eligible for the referral program since at least 2019.

Note: the referral program is separate from the Peloton Guest Pass that was announced earlier this month, which allows all members (both All-Access and App) to share a 60-day free trial of the Peloton App with family and friends.
