Film Director Christopher Nolan Took A Peloton Class When Instructor Criticized One of His Movies (Tenet); Jenn Sherman Responds

This week Peloton members – and instructors – received a reminder that you never really know who you’re working out with. Christopher Nolan, one of the most famous film directors in the world, recently revealed that he was in the middle of a Peloton class when the instructor criticized one of his recent films. He shared the tidbit to Variety:

“I was on my Peloton. I’m dying. And the instructor started talking about one of my films and said, ‘Did anyone see this? That’s a couple hours of my life I’ll never get back again!’”

It turns out, the class he was talking about was a 30 minute Intervals & Arms Ride with Jenn Sherman from December 28, 2020. During one of the arms sections, Jenn states:

This song is from the soundtrack of a movie called “Tenet.” Anybody see this sh*t? Did anybody see this besides me? ‘Cause I need a manual. Someone’s gotta explain this.
Yeah, I’m not kidding. What the f*ck was going on in that movie? Do you understand? Seriously, you need to be a neuroscientist to understand. And that is 2 and a half hours of my life that I want back.

The story has picked up a lot of headlines across media outlets over the past day, and Jenn responded publicly via Instagram:

To Mr. Christopher Nolan…(never thought I’d type that)

The post includes a video in which Jenn explains that it was a “dark time” in 2020 and she was “running her mouth as she’s known to do” in class about a movie she’d seen the night before (Tenet). She reinforces that the movie went right over her head; however, she absolutely loved Oppenheimer and has watched it twice, and those are six hours of her life she “never wants to give back.”

Jenn goes on to invite Nolan to visit Peloton Studios New York (PSNY) and take one of her classes so that he can critique her work. She promises the class will be “insult-free.”
