New Class Series: Push-ups & Politicians with Peloton

Peloton is once again expanding its content offerings with a new class series: “Push-ups & Politicians with Peloton.”

Launching later this spring, the class series will bring elected officials into Peloton Studios New York (PSNY) and Peloton Studios London (PSL) for unique two-for-one classes – blending a traditional Peloton workout with a candid interview.

Each episode will feature a Peloton instructor guiding a political guest through a workout while also asking questions about their personal journey, policies, and approach to health and wellness. Expect everything from intervals and hills on the Bike, to strength circuits and treadmill segments, all with a political twist.

The format draws inspiration from Peloton’s “Our Future Selves” series alongside Ashton Kutcher in 2022, where he trained for a marathon on the Tread alongside a series of celebrity guests and Peloton instructors. That series featured guests like Natalie Portman, Kim Kardashian, Allyson Felix , Jon Batiste, Thomas Rhett, Kenny Chesney, and Chris Paul.

In a statement to announce the new series, Peloton’s CEO Peter Stabler shared his excitement about this new concept, saying:

“One thing that has blown me away in my few short months here has been the passion of our Peloton community. It is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. And if there’s one thing people are more passionate about than their workouts—it is politics. So this seems like a win/win to make people even more passionate about Peloton than they were before.”

The new series will film on Wednesdays, when Peloton Studios are closed to the public for special projects, allowing uninterrupted production.

Peloton has been laying the groundwork for this type of content with recent experiments in two-for-one and guest-featured formats. The Form Fixer rowing series with Alex Karwoski has other Peloton instructors rowing alongside him while he offers form tips and technique corrections.

Similarly, the Strength+ program “The Kettlebell Experience” with Jess Sims has guest instructor Drew Mayes teaching the series alongside Jess. Over the years, Peloton has brought in a range of notable guests, from NBA stars sweating with Jess Sims, to Lindsey Stirling running with Becs Gentry, to new Health walks with Matt Wilpers & various industry experts.

As part of the kickoff for “Push-ups & Politicians,” Alex Toussaint will also be reviving his popular Ride to Greatness series. But this time, instead of teams “Activate” vs. “Validate,” the head-to-head leaderboard battle will pit riders as either Team Democrat or Team Republican – inviting the Peloton community to choose their side and compete in a good-natured, high-energy showdown.

Politics and Peloton have intersected before. President Joe Biden was widely reported to be a Peloton user, though security concerns led to debates about whether the Bike could be safely used inside the White House. In the UK, former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has openly discussed his love of early-morning Peloton workouts and is known to favor instructors like Cody Rigsby. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor even visited Peloton Studios New York and took an in-person class.

Peloton is expected to announce their initial guests for the Push-Ups & Politicians classes soon.

Note that today is April 1st, and this article is an April Fool’s Joke (for now).
