No live Peloton classes on Wednesdays anymore (+ no Thursday classes from PSL either); More Strength content coming

Peloton is making a significant change to their live class schedule.

Starting soon, there will be no live Peloton classes on Wednesdays (from either New York or London). In addition – Peloton Studios London will not have live classes on Thursday either.

Update – It appears July 17th will be the first Wednesday where there are no live classes from PSL or PSNY. There were no classes on Wednesday, July 3 but this was due to the 4th of July holiday.

Expect to see many instructors regular time slots change as the schedule updates (though this typically happens once or twice a year for seasonal schedule changes).

This means PSNY will have no live classes on Wednesdays, while PSL will have no live classes on both Wednesday & Thursday.

In a release, Peloton said that “We think the small sacrifice will be worth it, as we use that time to bring new types of content to our Members.”

This news was announced under the headline “New Content Concepts in Development at Peloton”, teasing that “Updated Studio Schedule to Unlock More Opportunities for Innovation and Flexibility”

This follows news from May that there would be no member classes from London on Thursdays & Mondays anymore.

Peloton says this live schedule change is “carving out dedicated time and space for our Content, Production, and Instructor teams to meaningfully focus on innovation to shape new fitness and wellness experiences for our Members.”

While there will be no live classes at all on Wednesday (and a reduced schedule on Thursday with PSL closed) – Peloton has said on-demand content will still drop on those days.

Peloton also clarified that nothing about the process or timing of members booking in-person classes at either PSNY or PSL will be changing as a result of this.

Peloton went to explain the reasoning behind this change:

We are reallocating resources on those days – including staffing, studio space, and Instructor time – to build, design, and expand on programming that will support enhancing select modalities, introducing content to new audiences, and exploring new ways to engage our Community outside of the classroom.

Peloton then teased some of the new content they would be working on: including enhancing strength. They specifically highlighted that as an area they would work on, saying:

More Strength programming; Strength is our second most popular modality and millions of people take our strength classes each week. We are exploring new ways to help Members reach strength goals; including Gym-focused content and progressive strength training programs.

They also teased “New cross-modality training; our Members are combining strength and other modalities more than ever to level up training” This will likely include more programs like the recent strength for golf program.

As Peloton has grown and evolved through the years, Member feedback has been at the heart of every decision we’ve made to create and maintain our best-in-class Member experience. We started as a single Bike Studio in New York City teaching cycling and have evolved to offer 16 modalities – including Strength, Yoga, Barre, Pilates, Outdoor Running and Bootcamp – across two Studios in New York and London.

With millions of Members now part of our Community, the next phase of our evolution is carving out dedicated time and space for our Content, Production, and Instructor teams to meaningfully focus on innovation to shape new fitness and wellness experiences for our Members.

To provide Members with new content experiences, we’re adjusting our production schedule at Peloton Studios New York (PSNY) and Peloton Studios London (PSL). There will be no live classes on Wednesdays at PSNY and Wednesdays and Thursdays at PSL. We are reallocating resources on those days – including staffing, studio space, and Instructor time – to build, design, and expand on programming that will support enhancing select modalities, introducing content to new audiences, and exploring new ways to engage our Community outside of the classroom. New on-demand content will drop during this time each week, to continue the steady stream of programming our Members know and love.

What to expect:

-More Strength programming; Strength is our second most popular modality and millions of people take our strength classes each week. We are exploring new ways to help Members reach strength goals; including Gym-focused content and progressive strength training programs.

-Even more ways to run, walk, and cycle using audio-only cues, including new Scenic offerings.

-New cross-modality training; our Members are combining strength and other modalities more than ever to level up training

-We will STILL offer and continue to create the classes that define Peloton; check out our recently launched Greatest Hits of All Time collection, featuring our top classes from our most beloved Peloton Instructors.

What these changes mean:

-Just a slight change in live classes on Wednesdays at PSNY and Wednesdays and Thursdays at PSL. We think the small sacrifice will be worth it, as we use that time to bring new types of content to our Members.

-The process for signing up for classes at PSNY and PSL remains the same. Click here for PSL and PSNY class schedules.

-Expect new content soon.

If it follows news there are no live classes at PSL on Mondays and Thursdays, is this changing that to just Wednesdays and Wednesdays and Thursdays or are there no live classes at PSL on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays? Sigh.

Something something I just paused my subscription. I’ll pedal and listen to music before I pay $44 a month for this significantly reduced content.

This is really bad news.. the one big thing that sets Peloton apart from competitors and why I love them is their live classes… it is way more motivating than starting a recording.. others also offer that or I can go to the gym and watch tv.. why are they destroying what members, who pay quite a lot, love about Peloton?

Looks like no more live member classes on Thursdays either – total disappointment.
