After a nearly four month hiatus, Peloton released new Strength for Runners content this week. Two new classes with Becs Gentry and Matt Wilpers are now available in the on-demand library:
- 10 min. Core Strength for Runners – Becs Gentry – 10/4/23 @ 12:00pm ET
- 20 min. Strength for Runners – Matt Wilpers – 10/4/23 @ 12:00pm ET
Strength for Runners classes aim to improve stability and strength for avid runners. There are a number of classes available on-demand – you can find them easily by utilizing the “strength for runners” class type filter within the strength library.
In addition, Peloton also released new yoga focus flow classes for runners. Three new classes are available:
- 10 min. Focus Flow: For Runners – Mariana Fernández – 10/3/23 @ 12:00pm ET
- 20 min. Focus Flow: For Runners – Denis Morton – 10/3/23 @ 12:00pm ET
- 10 min. Focus Flow: For Runners – Ross Rayburn – 10/3/23 @ 12:00pm ET
These new classes have already been added to Peloton’s Yoga for Cross-Training Collection, which contains classes for runners, riders, and rowers. These classes are specifically designed to complement running, cycling, and rowing workouts – in other words, they target many of the muscles that receive the most intensity in those other modalities.
Finally, instructor Matt Wilpers recently revealed via his Instagram Stories that he will be conducting a new video series in anticipation of the 2023 New York City Marathon. Called “The Road to NYC Marathon Series,” Matt will share tips for training, recovery, and preparing for the NYC Marathon.
The first video in the series covers long runs, which Matt recommends doing at least once per week leading up to the marathon. In addition, he recommends doing long runs the same day of the week and time as the race itself. Long runs help build physical endurance; build mental endurance; and allow runners to practice their nutrition strategy. For those running this year’s NYC Marathon, Matt recommends a distance target of 18 miles for this week.
In case you missed it, Peloton recently announced a multi-year partnership with the New York Road Runners (NYRR). The collaboration includes a race bib contest, as well as both outdoor audio-only and scenic classes that will be filmed from the marathon course.
