Cody Rigsby’s podcast has come to an end after 101 episodes.
“Tactful Pettiness,” which Cody co-hosted with close friend Andrew Chappelle, released its final episode this month under the title “A Tactful Farewell.” The pair used the episode to wrap up the show, thank the team behind it, and tell listeners where things stand.
They also refused to dress it up. The episode’s recurring “scam of the week” segment was turned on podcasting itself, with Andrew calling out hosts who announce a hiatus rather than an ending:
Cody: “The scam of the week is podcasters saying they are going on hiatus.”
Andrew: “That is a scam. You are not going on hiatus. You’re not doing the podcast anymore. Just say it.”
Cody then confirmed it directly, while leaving room to come back:
“Yes, friends, this is our last episode. There’s like maybe a little, you know, crack open in the door, but we need a little bit of time to focus on other things.”
Andrew added that “you never say never in this business,” and both were clear there was no falling out behind the decision. They said they remain close friends and were heading to Fire Island together the same week. Andrew did note that the weekly schedule took a toll, describing early mornings and travel that came with recording every week.
Fire Island is also where the podcast started. Andrew recounted that the idea came together while the two were there following Pride, with Cody working through a breakup and Andrew trying to cheer him up by dreaming up a show they would want to make. They built a pitch deck, sold it, got the project back when it stalled, and eventually landed at PodcastOne.
The podcast launched in June 2024, taking its name from a phrase in Cody’s 2023 book. It ran weekly on Thursdays across two seasons, mixing pop culture takes, relationship talk, and celebrity guests. Producer Ren, who also works for Cody, appeared on the show alongside them, and the two spent a portion of the finale thanking her along with producer Steve and the rest of the team.
Nothing is being taken down. The full back catalog remains available wherever you listen to podcasts, and both the Tactful Pettiness Instagram account and YouTube channel are staying up. Andrew told listeners that if the two of them decide to do something else down the line, it will turn up on social media first.
The episode description closed with a line that sums up the tone of the whole sendoff: “Thank you for being a part of this journey! So long for now, friends.”
