Back in April, Peloton announced during Homecoming 2021 that they would be adding a pause button to the Peloton Bike & Tread later this year. Since that announcement, we haven’t heard anything else about the feature.
It now appears that the Peloton pause button should be added very soon to both the Peloton Bike & Peloton Tread.
This new rumor is thanks to a Peloton class that was added on-demand yesterday. During her 10 minute post-run stretching class (9/17/21 @ 10:00am ET), Kirsten Ferguson spoke about the “new pause feature”. You can find the class here (note that it will likely be removed shortly).
You can see the moment below, or here you YouTube:
Here is what Kirsten said:
If at any point you want to stay in a stretch a little longer, just use that new pause feature.
Note that she specifically mentions the “new” pause button – implying that it isn’t the pause feature that has been available to app / Peloton Digital users previously. This class went straight to on-demand, so it was likely simply released too early on accident by the Peloton production team. Given that Peloton instructors are now starting to talk about it in classes they are pre-recording for on-demand drops implies the pause button should be seeing a release very soon.
This is the second item this week that has been revealed thanks to a Peloton class. Thursday, Peloton leaked a new upcoming product called the Peloton Guide during a class. If you missed that post, it will be a video-camera like device that allows you to see your form in real time, and possibly count reps.
As a reminder, the pause button will only be available for on-demand classes – it will not be available for live classes. It will also be implemented in a way to “preserve the integrity of the leaderboard” – so stay tuned for more details on what that means exactly.
