Peloton has updated the bikes in the cycling studio at Peloton Studios New York (PSNY) so that the power zone indicator appears during power zone classes. The news was first shared via the Peloton Reddit page by user u/Due_Fill608.
Until this past May the Peloton bikes at PSNY did not display power zones, even if the member had previously set them up by taking an FTP test.

Now, upon logging in, you’ll be presented with your power zone bars at the bottom of the screen, if you’ve previously set them up.
However, you still are unable to connect an external heart rate monitor to the studio bikes.
The addition of the power zone bar should come as a relief to power zone riders who have taken or want to take classes in-person, as previously they would have had to remember their zones via a sticky note, memorization, writing on the arm, or some other creative means.
However, it is important to note that the bikes in the studio can be calibrated very differently, so zones displayed on a studio bike should be taken with a grain of salt.
If you’re unfamiliar with power zone training or the FTP test, we have a number of resources available on our site.
Last year Peloton also added the target power zone indicator to tell you which zone you SHOULD be riding in.
If you’ve taken a power zone class in-studio and not had your zones available on your tablet, are you excited for this recent change?
