Peloton Personalized Plans Feature Update: Swap Your Scheduled Cardio Type

Peloton has rolled out another update to its Personalized Plans feature this week, this time adding the ability to swap your cardio type on a per-day basis.

If your plan has scheduled you for a running class on a particular day, you can now swap that day’s cardio recommendations to cycling or rowing instead, without changing the rest of your plan, or vice versa.

The update is live in both the iOS and Android Peloton apps as of now. Members may have to download the latest version of the Peloton app in order to access the new feature.

When the new feature is available, you’ll see a small banner at the top of your Personalized Plan that reads: “Your plan, your cardio. Now you can switch between cardio types included in your plan.”

On any day in your plan that includes a cardio block, you’ll now see a dropdown next to the cardio category showing the currently scheduled cardio type.

Tapping that dropdown opens a “Swap cardio type” sheet, where you can select between Cycling, Rowing, or Running, depending on what types of cardio you picked in your initial plan setup.

Once you’ve made the swap, the day’s cardio recommendations update to show classes in your newly selected modality. The rest of your plan (strength, full body, recovery days, and so on) remains unchanged.

Any other cardio days for that week are also unchanged, however, you can go and change them as well. This is done on a day by day basis.

This is the latest in a series of updates to Personalized Plans since Peloton expanded the feature beyond the Peloton Guide and onto the Peloton App. After originally launching on the Peloton Guide back in 2023, Personalized Plans rolled out to the Peloton App in beta in September 2024, with a full US and Canada rollout in January 2025. Since then, Peloton has continued to refine the feature, adding recovery day customization in April 2025 and two new goal options (Promote Longevity and Boost Cardio Fitness) in October 2025. Personalized Plans are now part of the broader Peloton IQ experience.

This particular update is one many members have been hoping for. Up until now, if Personalized Plans scheduled you for a running day but you didn’t feel like running (or vice versa), your only options were to skip the day, manually mark it complete, or take a class in the suggested modality anyway. The cardio swap option gives members much more flexibility in actually executing the plan, which is particularly useful for members who have multiple Peloton modalities at home and want to mix things up based on how their body feels day-to-day.

The cardio swap update comes the same week as Peloton is also rolling out the new Note to Self feature, which gives members a private space to log notes on each class they take.
