Peloton has once again expanded their Bike rental program, this time to the United Kingdom. Peloton’s bike rental program allows members to rent a Bike and bundle the cost of the hardware with the monthly subscription fee.
The Peloton U.K. website has a new page available specifically for rentals. Note that as of right now only the Bike+ is available for rental – not the original Bike. It is unclear whether the original Bike may be added in the future.
Customers in the U.K. can rent the Peloton Bike+ for £99 per month, following a one-time £200 “joining fee” – the one time delivery and set-up charge. Note that the monthly fee includes both the cost of the required monthly All-Access Membership, and the Bike+ rental fee. A pair of cycling shoes is also included in the order.
There is also a new support page available with more information, and Peloton has added a banner to the U.K. homepage advertising the new rental opportunity.
In a statement, Peloton released some research after polling around 2,000 people that suggests trends towards rentals are increasing. They then went on to say that ““With Brits seeking choice, Peloton Rental is an ideal way to experiment with a new fitness routine. With expert Instructors, a diverse catalogue of music, 16 fitness modalities, and a Member community by your side when you need it, Peloton Rental introduces the most motivating way to achieve your fitness goals.”
With the additions of Canada and Germany last year, the only Peloton markets in which the rental program is not available are Australia and Austria. There is not yet any indication whether those markets may be on the way in the future.
For reference, the details Peloton’s bike rental program are outlined below:
- Upon joining, each member enters into a rental agreement, which can be canceled at any time.
- Upon cancellation, members will need to schedule a time within 30 days for Peloton to return and pick up the device. The member will also lose access to all Peloton content at the end of the monthly period at which they canceled. If the member does not schedule a time for Peloton to pick up the Bike within 30 days of cancellation, they will continue to be charged their monthly fee.
- At any time, members can purchase their Peloton Bike+, otherwise known as a buyout. Members will be able to determine their buyout price in their rental agreement.
- Peloton will honor the Limited Warranty for the Bike+ for the duration of the term set out in the rental agreement.
- The offer is not open to current members, or members who have had an All-Access membership in the past year.
Peloton’s bike rental program first launched in 2022 in the United States and underwent a number of changes relatively quickly – first by expanding to additional states, then by expanding to the entire continental U.S.
We’ve previously shared that Peloton has no current plans to offer the Tread or Row as rental options.
