Peloton is working on a fix for an issue causing the Apple Watch app to intermittently crash when members try to connect their watch to a workout or class.
Peloton first acknowledged the problem on their status page Wednesday morning, September 9 at 10:13am ET, writing:
“We are investigating an ongoing issue with the Apple Watch connecting to a workout and the app crashing intermittently. Team is investigating.”
Just over two hours later, at 12:27pm ET, Peloton changed the status of the incident from “Investigating” to “Identified,” saying:
“This issue has been identified and we are investigating a fix.”
Peloton lists the affected component as Bike/Tread/App/Row through the Peloton App. Because the crash is intermittent, not every member or connection attempt will necessarily be affected.

Peloton has not shared the cause of the issue, how many members are experiencing it, or an estimated time for a fix. However, there have bene reports on social media for a number of days of members reporting issues.
Members experiencing the problem can also use a separate compatible heart rate monitor instead of their Apple Watch in the meantime, if they have one.
This is not the first Apple Watch connection issue Peloton has dealt with. In March 2024, another intermittent bug affected members using Apple Watch as a heart rate monitor on Peloton hardware. In that case, the watch could pair normally but heart rate information would not appear on the Peloton screen. Peloton resolved that issue about a week later.
The current problem is different, with Peloton specifically describing the Apple Watch app itself as intermittently crashing while connecting to a workout.
Members can follow the incident and subscribe for updates on Peloton’s status page.
We will share an update once Peloton confirms a fix.
