Peloton Tread+ Rear Guard Installations Starting for Current Owners

Peloton has launched the scheduling process to install the rear guard for current Tread+ owners. Emails began going out to members on January 3, 2024 – however, it appears to be a gradual rollout, as not all Tread+ owners have received a notification just yet.

The email subject line reads: “Schedule your Tread+ Rear Safety Guard Installation” and contains a link for members to schedule a 2-hour appointment window.

The page is similar to when placing an order for a new hardware device. Members who received the email have shared that installation appointments were available as early as the week of January 8. Note that members who received the email are asked not to share their scheduling link with others, as it is personalized for each customer.

The email also contains important information about what members can expect regarding the installation process. First, the rear guard will arrive a couple of days prior to the scheduled appointment, and members are asked not to attempt to install the device themselves.

The actual installation from a tech will take approximately one hour during the scheduled appointment window, and will involve removing the end caps and power cable on the Tread+. The tech will also provide a quick overview of how the rear guard works once it has been installed.

The email concludes with a link to a video that provides a detailed overview of the Tread+ rear guard.

We previously shared that Peloton had reached out to current Tread+ owners with information about what to expect back in November, indicating that installations for current owners would begin in early 2024.

Though the Tread+ resumed sales with a pre-order phase on December 6, there is still no concrete update about when new orders will begin shipping. “Early 2024” was provided as the timeline here as well.

If you currently own a Tread+ but have not received the rear guard installation scheduling link from Peloton, be on the lookout over the next few days.
