Peloton on Tour Atlanta kicked off the final day of the event with some live group outdoor classes.
This activity was a change from Los Angeles (the first stop on the tour). There, Peloton set up a recording studio in the showroom and members were able to watch a real class be recorded for the on-demand library. Only 30 or so people were allowed into the showroom to watch the recording – and members weren’t actually taking the class.
In Atlanta, this was changed to instead be the instructors teaching group classes outside – but these were not being recorded to later be turned into real Peloton classes other members could take. Instead, the instructors were just focused on the people there taking the class – and those who signed up were actually working out alongside the instructors.
There were 3 different outdoor classes taught on Saturday morning, which took place in an outdoor greenspace next to the Peloton Alpharetta (Atlanta) showroom.
100 tickets were sold to each session, meaning around 300 people were able to take part in this experience throughout the day. Members received a yoga mat to use during the class, and could take it home with them afterwards.
Each of the 3 classes were roughly 30 minutes long.
The first class of the morning was a group yoga class, which began at 8:00am and was led by Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts. Chelsea began the class from the “stage” area at the front of the lawn.
However, once the class had been going for a little while, she began to walk throughout the crowd of people taking the class. As the class ended, she went back up on the stage to close out the class.
The second class started at 9:15am, and was taught by Matt Wilpers and Kirsten Ferguson. This was a bodyweight strength for runners class.
During this class, Matt remained up on the stage teaching and leading the class the entire time, with Kirsten walking through the crowd as the class was taking place, and also doing some of the exercises from the crowd.
The final class began at 10:30am, and was a bodyweight strength class taught by Alex Toussaint & Jon Hosking. Alex & Jon started off the class by running through the crowd welcoming everyone who was taking the class.
Similar to the first strength class, Alex Toussaint remained on stage the whole time teaching the class, with Jon being in the crowd during the class. However, just after the class began, Matt Wilpers & Kirsten Ferguson came up and jumped into the class as well and took it with members – even though they had just finished teaching the first strength class under an hour before.
Although the classes were outdoor, the greenspace had some shade covers over the area, providing some relief from the heat as the day got progressively warmer.
After each class, members and instructors went back to the showroom and lined up, and every member who took the class was able to get a photo with the instructor(s) who had taught their class.
