Susie Chan Joining “Unstoppable Women in Sport” Panel at Cheltenham Literature Festival

Susie Chan will appear at the Cheltenham Literature Festival on Wednesday, October 14 for a conversation about women’s sport alongside fellow ultrarunner Sophie Power.

The event is titled “Unstoppable Women in Sport” and takes place at 8:30pm local time at the Garden Theatre in Montpellier Gardens in Cheltenham, England.

Tickets cost £16, and the session runs for 60 minutes.

Susie and Sophie will be joined by sports journalist and presenter Karthi Gnanasegaram, who will moderate the conversation.

Cheltenham Festivals describes the event by saying:

“In conversation with sports journalist and presenter Karthi Gnanasegaram, they reflect on balancing elite sport with life’s biggest challenges, overcoming setbacks and breaking barriers, exploring ambition, resilience and the changing landscape of women’s sport.”

There will also be a book signing after the panel.

The festival highlights Susie’s multiple finishes at the Marathon des Sables, along with the personal challenges she has written and spoken about throughout her running career.

Susie’s Trails and Tribulations: The Running Adventures of Susie Chan was released in 2024 and won Sports Performance Book of the Year at the 2025 Sports Book Awards.

Susie also held a fireside chat at Peloton Studios London earlier this year to celebrate the paperback release of the book.

Sophie Power is the British ultrarunner behind one of the most widely shared images in the sport, a photograph of her breastfeeding her three month old son partway through a 106 mile race in 2018. She later founded SheRACES, a non-profit working to make races more inclusive for women.

Sophie Power’s book, The Power Within, is also featured as part of the event.

The panel was originally scheduled to include England rugby player Ellie Kildunne, but Cheltenham Festivals says she will no longer appear due to unforeseen circumstances.

“Unstoppable Women in Sport” is part of the 2026 Cheltenham Literature Festival, which runs October 9-18.
