Report: 6 additional Peloton coaches trained as Pilates instructors

Earlier this month, Peloton’s Chief Content Officer Jennifer Cotter spoke at the Digital Entertainment World Conference. The session, titled “Peloton Studios: Bringing Entertainment, Celebrity and Live TV to Fitness” was led by Shirley Halperin, Executive Editor of Music at Variety. As one might expect, music was a heavy focus of the interview.

However, during the chat, Jennifer revealed an interesting fact. She specifically stated that 11 of the Peloton instructors had received training for teaching Pilates last March while Peloton studios were shut down. She said:

We had to shut down for a little while in March, and we used that time, not only for 11 instructors to get trained in pilates, which is how we did the pilates launch later in the year

Peloton’s Pilates program officially launched in December of 2020. 20 classes were made available with the initial launch. The first instructors were Hannah Corbin, Emma Lovewell, Kristin McGee, Aditi Shah, and Sam Yo.

Since we know 11 instructors received Pilates training and only 5 were announced with the first classes, this means that Peloton has up to 6 additional instructors who could potentially teach Pilates classes.

Peloton has already teased the community that they plan to add more instructors. An email to members about Pilates included the statement “We’ll be introducing even more motivational instructors to Pilates soon.”

When would Peloton add new Pilates instructors? They have been sharing on social media to look for more classes in “early 2021” so it’s possible the next batch of classes could have new instructors included.

Note that not every coach who trained for Pilates would end up teaching classes though – so the number of new Peloton Pilates coaches could be lower than 6.

The entire panel is available to watch via YouTube.

Which current Peloton instructor would you like to see teaching Pilates classes?
