This morning, UnitedHealthcare announced that they are teaming up with Peloton to offer a free year worth of Peloton membership to people who have “select” UnitedHealthcare insurance plans.
This offer begins around September 1st. Specifically, it will offer 12 free months worth of membership for the Peloton Digital app. If you are a bike or Tread owner, you will be be given 4 months worth of your All-Access membership for free. This offer will be valid for both new and existing Peloton members.
Both Peloton & United Healthcare provided statements as part of the release:
“Many Americans are turning to on-demand exercise options to help improve their fitness and bolster their overall well-being, and this first-of-its-kind relationship with Peloton will provide millions of our members with an important resource to help them along their journey toward a healthier lifestyle,” said Philip Kaufman, senior vice president, UnitedHealthcare. “Expanding access to Peloton’s industry-leading health and wellness community builds upon our commitment to developing digital health resources and consumer-centric benefits to help people live healthier lives.”
“Peloton Members have always shared how much movement and activity positively impacts their mental, physical and emotional health,” said William Lynch, President, Peloton. “With UnitedHealthcare, we can now reach millions more around the country in our continuing efforts to help people be the best versions of themselves. This is our latest step to live up to our mission of making movement and fitness more accessible and available.”
The press releases state that this benefit will extend to more than 6 million United Healthcare members. However, it does seem to be somewhat dependent on your specific plan with United. This partnership is currently scheduled to run from September 1st, 2021 through June 30th, 2022.
