“May the 4th” Peloton Star Wars Classes: Ride with Sam Yo & Charlotte Weidenbach (Peloton Star Wars Ride), Run with Tobias Heinze

Peloton will celebrate a new holiday this year. On May the 4th, there will be several Star Wars Peloton classes in honor of “May the 4th Day” – an informal Star Wars day to celebrate the movies Star Wars. For those not familiar with the holiday, “May the 4th” is play on “May the force be with you” from the movies.

Update – Sam Yo has said that on May 4th & 5th, the class will have some “extra” items included in it. It’s not clear yet what those are. He said: “it’s gonna be so much fun! You must try and do it on the 4th/5th as it’s limited special version of the class for those 2 days 💫” The class will still be available in the on-demand library after those 2 days as well.

While Peloton has yet to announce the series officially, several of the classes are already showing up on the upcoming schedule. There might still be more announced in the coming weeks. You can find the list of Peloton Star Wars classes below (including a Peloton Star Wars Ride, and Peloton Star Wars run), and we’ll update it if any more are announced.

Star Wars Peloton Classes & Schedule & Workouts (Peloton Star Wars Ride)

  • 30 min Star Wars Ride – Sam Yo – 5/4/23 @ 2:00am ET [Premiere On-Demand]
  • 30 min Star Wars Run [German] – Tobias Heinze – 5/4/23 @ 4:00am ET [Encore On-Demand]
  • 30 min Star Wars Ride [German] – Charlotte Weidenbach – 5/4/23 @ 1:30pm ET

For a number of years, Sam Yo has lobbied for this series to happen. Sam shared a letter he wrote to Disney proposing the ride series:

Imagine the rider clipping into their Peloton Bike as the opening theme starts roaring through their speakers, shaking the room like a TIE fighter passing outside their window! They have sat down in the saddle for a Star Wars experience as if they were in the Galaxy’s Edge theme park. Today their Peloton is their Millennium Falcon, their X-wing, their Pod Racer!

These 30 minutes will take you through some iconic moments:

Like dodging up and down through the asteroid field, trying to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, find some recovery time at the Mos Eisley Cantina and join the Rogue Squadron in the cockpit of our X-Wing

I’m confident that this collaboration would be a huge success for Peloton members and Star Wars fans everywhere. As with Star Wars and Peloton it’s all about the community and bringing people from all walks of life together

In addition to sharing the letter, Sam mentioned that the path to create this ride took more than 2 years:

It means the world to create a class to bring the members and the fans together 💫

I am over the moon that this two year journey is coming to you soon where ever you are in the galaxy…

Sam Yo recently gave an interview to Gizmodo, where he talked about how the music will cover the entire Star Wars universe:

Yo was able to tell that story to Disney because he made his dream playlist a year and a half ago, way before it was ever approved. He admits it’s gone through a few changes here and there, but for the most part, he thinks in 30 minutes he hit every big theme or piece of music he wanted to play, along with winks and nods to other parts of Star Wars too. “It’s the prequels, the originals, there’s stuff from the sequels, there are references to Rogue One, maybe there are references to The Bad Batch, it’s little references that bring the whole universe together,” Yo said.

The Star Wars franchise is now part of the Disney family – who Peloton has been working with more closely. Although there had been a number of unofficial & hidden Disney classes over the years, in August 2021 Peloton formally launched a partnership with Disney, which allowed them to have “official” Peloton Disney classes. Since then, there have been dozens of Peloton Disney classes on the platform – you can find them all listed here.

Although this will be the first “official” Peloton Star Wars ride – there have been other hidden classes out there. In particular, back in 2019, Emma Lovewell taught a ride for Halloween dressed as Princess Leia. The playlist included a few Star Wars songs as well – though not the entire playlist.

You can find other Peloton Halloween classes here.

Will you be taking one of the Peloton Star Wars classes? Whether it’s the Peloton Star Wars Ride, or Peloton Star Wars Run?
