Peloton continues to slowly expand how they are working with the University of Michigan, who is the first school in Peloton’s “College Strategy”
This week, Peloton just launched a brand new Peloton x Michigan collection of classes.
At launch, there are two classes available – a upper body mobility with Andy Speer, and a Level Up Meditation with Chelsea Jackson Roberts. In addition to the coaches wearing University of Michigan colored apparel, there are also University of Michigan student athletes in the studio for these classes.
The collection description reads:
Get ready for game day with our new Peloton x Michigan Collection. Move to the next level in your fitness goals alongside University of Michigan athletes.
Both of the classes currently available feature the 2023/24 Michigan Men’s Basketball team.
The classes currently in the collection include:
- 10 min Upper Body Mobility – Andy Speer – 11/24/23 @ 10:00am ET
- 10 min Level Up Meditation – Chelsea Jackson Roberts – 11/24/23 @ 10:00am ET
Peloton has also started working with the athletes in other ways. As first reported by Sports Illustrated, Peloton also recently signed a NIL contract with University of Michigan football running back Blake Corum.
NIL stands for “Name, Image, and Likeness”, and is a new way for college athletes to get paid for advertisements & endorsement deals. These only became legal recently in the NCAA, but now that they have been added, you may already be seeing lots of ads & promotion featuring student athletes.
This partnership was announced via Instagram with Alex Toussaint .
The post said:
No better way to start my partnership with Peloton than talking to @alextoussaint about how to stay focused, drown out the noise and rise to greatness. 🔥 @onepeloton @pelotonstudios
We can likely expect to see more NIL deals and partnership with student athletes as Peloton expands to other universities as well.
Peloton also recently sold a limited edition University of Michigan bike.
