Former Peloton instructor Kristin McGee has joined Tonal as a guest instructor.
The connected strength training company announced that Kristin is joining as a guest coach, with the two entities sharing a joint Instagram post that read:
Welcome to Tonal @kristinmcgee! Coach Kristin’s entering her strength era, and bringing Tonal members with her. Her upcoming moves on Tonal are designed to redefine what strength looks like in midlife, focusing on resilience, energy, and strength that lasts. We can’t wait for you to meet her on Tonal.
For those unfamiliar, Tonal is a smart home gym that uses digital weight powered by electricity and AI to deliver personalized strength training. The wall-mounted device allows for a wide range of exercises with adjustable resistance, real-time feedback, and coach-led workouts. Tonal positions itself as a complete strength system designed to help members train efficiently and effectively from home.
Kristin also sat down with Tonal for a blog feature highlighting her new role. While she has built a decades-long career as a yoga and Pilates expert with an extensive celebrity clientele, she emphasized that strength training is a natural evolution for her practice.

She stated:
“Tonal feels like a natural evolution to me. I’m still guiding people mindfully, but now with even more focus on building functional strength from the inside out.”
At 52 and a mother of three boys, Kristin explained that she is especially passionate about helping women in midlife feel strong and supported. She sees herself as a “bridge” for busy moms and women over 40, offering workouts that evolve with them rather than against them. According to Kristin, strength training in midlife is not just about aesthetics; it is about maintaining independence, protecting joints, supporting balance, and sustaining energy for years to come.
This is not Kristin’s first time working with Tonal. At the beginning of this year, she taught a few in-person classes in New York City at the “Tonal Training Lab.” This was a pop-up physical location in New York where people could take in-person Tonal classes, led by Tonal and guest instructors. Those classes were never added to the Tonal platform for at-home members to take. This new announcement sees Kristin join the regular Tonal platform – with the classes available to all the Tonal members at home.
While Tonal calls Kristin a “guest coach,” it is not entirely clear how this differs from a full-time instructor role. It likely means she will appear less frequently on the platform, similar to the way Christian Vande Velde serves as a guest instructor for Peloton.
This structure also may be related to Kristin’s other projects. Earlier this month she launched Kristin McGee Movement, her own digital wellness platform featuring yoga, Pilates, strength, and meditation classes – for a monthly membership fee.
Kristin left Peloton in 2024, first announcing her departure on June 17 before teaching her last live class at the end of the month. Kristin has previously hinted that she would be open to returning to Peloton as a guest instructor in the future, and she released a book earlier this year.
For now, Kristin’s next chapter lies with Tonal and her own digital wellness platform. No exact launch date for Kristin’s first class on Tonal has been announced, but Tonal has promised her debut is “coming soon.”
