Three Peloton instructors will all be leaving Peloton at the end of June. These instructors are Ross Rayburn, Kendall Toole, and Kristin McGee.
As each departure was announced, there has been a lot of discussion in the Peloton community as to why these departures have taken place – and if more are imminent.
Following the most recent departure, Peloton shared a statement that explicitly clarified that all three instructors chose to leave “during our most recent round of contract negotiations.”
It is not clear how many contracts may be tied to the timing of Peloton’s fiscal year, but for context, Peloton’s fiscal year ends on June 30th.

The statement specifically mentioned “three of our beloved Instructors”, making it sound like no more departures are in the immediate future.
Recently, a few instructors have specifically noted that they renewed their contract. This includes both Cody Rigsby and Jess Sims.
The statement went on to note that “Our door will always be open to them, so this is not a final goodbye, but rather, we hope to see them later.”
Another question many people have had is whether these instructors will be replaced, or if other instructors will fill in. It sounds like Peloton is potentially looking at hiring new instructors to replace them, saying that “we are excited about the opportunity to bring new talent to our Instructor roster to continue offering a best-in-class experience to our Members.”
One option that Peloton could pursue is hiring some of the lululemon studio instructors who have lost their jobs. When Peloton & lululemon announced their 5 year partnership, lululemon only kept making new classes until spring 2024 – after which they are simply using Peloton classes.
Several lululemon instructors have had events at Peloton Studios, including some in-person classes. Of course, many of those same instructors have since taken jobs at other studios, or have started their own apps – so may not be available.
There have been no hints that rehiring lululemon instructors is a route Peloton may take at this point – the new instructors could come from anywhere.

As with all businesses who work with professional athletes, Instructor contracts are a normal and ongoing part of the Peloton process. During our most recent round of contract discussions, three of our beloved Instructors have chosen to leave to explore new opportunities. Each has their own special magic that has helped build the incredible Peloton community we have today; we are truly grateful and wish them all the best. Our door will always be open to them, so this is not a final goodbye, but rather, we hope to see them later. As we think about Peloton’s future, we are excited about the opportunity to bring new talent to our Instructor roster to continue offering a best-in-class experience to our Members.
We will continue to share updates as they become available.

I would love to be an instructor
I wish them all the best and hope it works out for them. As we have all found out at one time or other, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. This is especially true for athletes and actors.
