Peloton's Boost Your Base: Power Zone training program.

Peloton’s “Boost Your Base: Power Zones” Training Program (Class List & Details)

“Boost Your Base: Power Zones” is Peloton’s newest power zone training program. The program began to be released on April 21, 2025.

This is a 8 week training program, consisting entirely of power zone endurance training classes. Matt Wilpers designed the structure of the program, and taught the first class, giving an overview of the science and plan behind the program. However, over the course of the 8 weeks, expect to see classes from many of the other Peloton instructors who teach power zone classes included in the program.

There are 3 classes per week, with each week having one “long ride” to end with – the program should culminate with a 90 minute ride towards the end. The program will use progressive overload, with the TSS (training stress store – or total difficulty for the week) gradually increasing for 3 weeks, then dropping down for one week to allow the body to adapt – and then following the same structure for the second half of the program. This is designed to help people start building their fitness levels. Matt noted that it’s great for improving your aerobic base – even if you have limited time. This boost in your base aerobic fitness will then help you take on higher intensity classes & workout down the road.

The Boost Your Base: Power Zone program is designed for people who are already slightly familiar with power zone training – so if power zone training is brand new to you, you may want to start with the Discover Your Power Zones program. The Build Your Base: Power Zones program does not have FTP tests built into the schedule – so you’ll want to test before starting the program.

The Boost Your Base: Power Zone program was created to be someone’s first steps of a bigger training routine. The Boost program is designed to build your base fitness, and general aerobic conditioning. After completing the program, the natural progression is to then take the Build Your Power Zones program, and then top it off with the Peak Your Power Zones program.

Alternatively, the program can be used as part of cross training. Since all the rides are power zone endurance (and only using Zone 2 & Zone 3), the rides in the program can be someone’s aerobic conditioning for the week. This leaves space in someone’s training program to do their more intense workouts on whatever they are focusing on – like running, or strength training.

The fact that all of the rides in this program are lower intensity is on purpose – and in support of the overall goal of this training program (which is building that base fitness level). While the intensity is lower, that also allows people to work on some of the fundamentals – like posture, breathing, pedal strokes, and confidence. This program should leave you feeling like you have energy left afterwards – which is by design.

If someone is new to power zone training, they will likely see a decent pop in their FTP by the end of the program. If someone is more fit, they likely won’t see as large an increase in their FTP.

In a unique twist, Peloton launched this as a “live” program – with 2 of the rides per week being released on-demand (one Monday early morning, and one Wednesday early morning each week), but the third ride (the long ride) taking place as a live class on Saturdays. Then, after the Saturday class is completed, it is being added to the list of classes of the program.

One other unique aspect of this program is it is found in the “Collections” section of the Peloton app & website. This means there aren’t the usual restrictions around when you can take it or unlocking classes (other than the fact that, as the classes are first launched, they will show up over the course of 8 weeks).

Yeah, well, I can’t keep up with the program because class 3 on weeks 3 and 4 won’t load onto my peloton profile… I can’t even search them out in my class library, even though the other family members of my house on the same account can see and do them. So that’s great. And no one at Peloton has the ability to help. So glad I pay $50 a month for nothing.
