Peloton is adding a new Sled Mode to the Tread+, allowing members to manually push the slat belt against as much as 300 pounds of resistance.
The feature launches October 1, 2026 on the just announced Peloton Tread+ Vision (which was revealed along side the Tread Vision and the folding Peloton Flex Treadmill).
However, the Sled Mode feature will also be added through software updates to every previous Tread+ model, including the Cross Training Tread+ and Original Series Tread+.
Sled Mode builds on Free Mode, which is already available on the Tread+. Free Mode disengages the motor, leaving the member to move the slat belt with their own power.
Sled Mode adds adjustable weight resistance to that movement.
Members start in Free Mode and can then use an on-screen weight control to increase or decrease the resistance, from 30 pounds up to 300 pounds.

Once you go into Sled Mode, the display for Output changes from the normal Output widget to a new “Sled Power” widget, calculating the effort you have put in via sled mode in watts.
The sled mode weight does not currently adjust automatically – there is no “Auto Sled Mode” feature like there is for “Auto Incline.”
An “Intro to Sled Mode” class will be available to help members learn how to use the feature.
Peloton is also developing dedicated workouts built around Sled Mode, with Logan Aldridge and Andy Speer among the instructors expected to teach them.
Those classes will include coaching on upper-body position in addition to the lower-body work required to move the belt.

Peloton noted during a demonstration that people often approach a sled by simply trying to push as hard and quickly as possible, while paying less attention to upper-body mechanics. The coached workouts are intended to help with both.
One big use case for Sled Mode is HYROX training – building on Peloton’s HYROX partnership. The sled push is one of the standard stations in a HYROX race.
Peloton has steadily expanded its programming around the competition, including HYROX-branded classes, Logan Aldridge’s HYROX Power 60 workouts, and a full 12-week HYROX Training Program.
Until now, a Peloton member could train the running, rowing, and strength demands of a HYROX event but could not directly recreate a loaded sled push on Peloton hardware. Sled Mode changes that for anyone with a Tread+.
Peloton is not limiting the feature to competitive training, though. Becs Gentry shared other practical examples such as pushing a stroller, helping move someone in a wheelchair, or moving other heavy objects as everyday applications of the same type of strength.
Members will also be able to use Sled Mode and build the movement into their own workouts.
The Sled Mode feature requires the Tread+’s slat belt, just like Free Mode, which is why it will not come to Tread Flex, Tread Vision, Cross Training Tread, or the Original Series Tread.
Peloton said that hardware limitations are generally the reason a new software feature would not be brought to an older machine.
Sled Mode launches October 1, alongside other new running features like Run Analysis, ReRuns, Peloton IQ Pace Targets, Heart rate zone workouts, a Whoop Integration and more.
