Kendall Toole Shares Why She Left Peloton

Former Peloton instructor Kendall Toole recently shared part of the reason why she left Peloton in some posts on social media.

She has been doing some Ask Me Anything sessions recently, and a question that keeps coming up relates to her departure from Peloton.

One such question had asked her “I’m sure you’re going to address it but why did you leave Peloton?”

Kendall posted a video in response on TikTok, before cross-posting to Instagram. In the video, Kendall stated there were two main reasons she left Peloton. The first being that it was related to contract negotiations, with a second being her feeling like it was time to “evolve her career.”

In the video, she stated:

“I left Peloton because it was time for contract renegotiations; a multitude of reasons, but the most important thing was I just felt like it was time for me to evolve in my career. I love the five years that I had there, I’m super grateful for it. I do miss teaching, I miss you guys, but I’m ready to build something for myself, and something much bigger, and go after my own dreams. So, you can’t stay in one place and expect for things to change and happen for you – and I think I outgrew my shell. So, the hermit crab left that shell and is building and finding a new one. There you have it.”

The video post on Instagram also includes a complete caption providing additional information:

✌️⚡️ with gratitude, to answer this question once and for all: it was simply time for me to move on.
I am so excited for what I am building next, for stepping out into faith, and to betting on myself and my dreams. If I didn’t do it now, I would forever regret it.
Thank you all for the support, know I will always cherish how we first met and connected through all the sweat and virtual classes and know that I am honored to have you along for what is next. With a world filled with chaos, drama and division I am keeping my focus on what can be created as a positive force, and that keeps my energy focused on the future and taking that vision I have to REALITY.
Building something to the value you all deserve takes some time, as I don’t do anything without my whole 💚 and whole 🍑 and whole ⚡️!

Kendall has already announced one new venture that launched earlier this month: a podcast with HGTV host Galey Alix.

It is important to note that current and former Peloton instructors likely have non-disclosure agreements (NDA) in place; in other words, they may be legally prohibited from sharing the full details surrounding their employment. Kendall hearted the comment of a user who replied: “Also it’s called an NDA…idk why everyone keeps asking her like she’s really gonna spill the tea on everything 🤦🏽‍♀️”

After initially teasing a big announcement in early June, Kendall shared that she was departing Peloton on June 13, 2024. Her last class took place on June 29 and had more than 19,000 live riders. Around the time of her departure Peloton unveiled a Greatest Hits Collection dedicated to some of her best classes from over the years.

Kendall was one of three instructors to depart on June 30 due to contract negotiations along with Kristin McGee and Ross Rayburn. In addition, Tobias Heinze departed at the end of June, but that was not related to contracts. Peloton has since clarified that all remaining instructors have signed new contracts.

If anyone wants insight into why Kendall left, they should take or just watch her June 12 class – right before she announced she was leaving. The playlist, the commentary, her entire demeanor. It’s not even remotely subtle. I wonder if they still have that class available, because if I were her Peloton management I’d have definitely pulled it. But it’s all right there – very little left to the imagination.
