New Weekly Activity Goals Feature Added to Peloton App

Peloton has added a new feature to the Peloton app, simply titled “Goals”. This feature allows you to create a weekly activity goal for yourself on the Peloton platform, and track your progress towards it.

Note that this appears to be a slow rollout or beta test, as not all members have it at this time.

Update – This featured launched for everyone on December 20th.

If you have the new feature, you’ll see a new “Goals” menu item at the top of your Profile page (similar to where you find the Music feature Peloton recently added). There is also a new widget for the feature underneath how many followers you have.

The feature notes that the goals will reset every Monday – presumably in your local time.

Peloton’s weekly activity goal feature currently has 3 different metrics you can choose to work towards. They are:

  • Active Days
  • Time
  • Workouts
Picking number of days to workout.

Each of these options are fairly strait forward. Active days is trying to workout a certain number of days in a week. Time is trying to hit a certain number of minutes, or hours, in a week.

And finally, workouts is trying to complete a certain number of activities, regardless of what day they are completed on.

You don’t have to limit yourself to one goal either – you are able to have a goal of each type you are working towards. In other words, you can have an active days goal, time goal, and workouts goal all for the same week going on at the same time.

Once you have set your goals, the goal tab will display your progress towards those goals. Once you have completed a goal, it will add a checkmark next to that particular goal.

We have seen people with this Weekly Activity Goals feature on both the Peloton iOS (Apple) app as well as Android.

Peloton has allowed users to track towards goals in some more subtle ways in the past. For example, Peloton has “The Annual” challenge, which is a year-long “Time” goal. Peloton also tracks & awards members for their daily & weekly streaks – a longer-term version of the active days goal.

Peloton is likely hoping that the more granular (and user defined) weekly activity goals feature & tracking will provide users extra motivation to stay engaged with the Peloton platform & classes – and give another reason to keep coming back to the app or their hardware devices.
