September brings a new addition to Peloton’s lineup of Tread Bootcamp classes: the much-anticipated Walking Bootcamp.
Peloton announced the news via Instagram, sharing:
the secret is out…Walking Bootcamps are here 🫢
The first class is now available with instructor Matty Maggiacomo, having been added to the on-demand library on September 17 at 12:00am ET. The class is 30 minutes in length, and instead of Peloton’s traditional Tread Bootcamps – which involve a mix of running on the Tread and strength workouts on the mat – this new class type offers walking on the Tread.

The official class description reads:
Lace up and join Matty in this full-body workout with low impact walking intervals on the Tread and strength-building moves on the mat. This efficient and challenging bootcamp will take your confidence to the next level.
As hinted at in the September “Workouts to Watch” roundup, Matty’s debut Walking Bootcamp was all about keeping the workout low impact while still offering a serious challenge. The class avoids high-impact movements, keeping the feet on the ground throughout the session. The class delivers a full-body workout with walking intervals on the Tread paired with strength-building moves on the mat. The walking intervals were kept at a low incline – never exceeding 5%. This new format makes it easy for members to scale movements based on their comfort level, making it an appealing option for members looking for a workout that is both accessible and effective.
Interestingly, Peloton offered a handful of low-impact Tread Bootcamp classes back in 2019 and earlier, which combined walking with strength work, but these classes were eventually purged from the on-demand library. With the introduction of this new Walking Bootcamp format, it appears Peloton is bringing this concept back to the forefront – but now under an official and more refined title.
This move also aligns with other small adjustments Peloton has been making to encourage more walking-based workouts, showing a shift toward making fitness more accessible and varied for a wider range of members.
It is currently unclear how often Walking Bootcamps will be released or which other instructors might take the helm, but we will share updates as they become available.
Note that Peloton also offers Hiking Bootcamps; these first debuted in February of 2022 and are taught solely by Rebecca Kennedy at time of publishing.
You can see the full announcement post from Peloton via Instagram, and you can take Peloton’s first Walking Bootcamp class with Matty on your Tread device, the web browser, or the digital app.
