Peloton Tread and strength instructor Rebecca Kennedy recently shared that she will be teaching a new variation of the Tread Bootcamp. In her 45 minute Pop Bootcamp on February 23, Rebecca shared that she will soon be teaching hiking bootcamps, which means that the class will alternate between walking at an incline on the Tread, and strength work on the mat.
Rebecca followed up the announcement with an Instagram Live, during which she shared additional details:
I’ve been working on this for months and I’m [so] excited to bring this to y’all because [I know] that you have been loving the hikes and that you like the hiking sections when I put them in bootcamps, so I was like ‘we need to bring hiking bootcamps as their own class to the Tread.’
Rebecca went on to share that she will be teaching hiking bootcamps twice per month in her usual live class slots. The first of these bootcamps will take place on Wednesday, March 2 at 9:30am ET, and the class title has already been updated on the schedule.
The class durations will be 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes in length, and will be offered at all different levels. The classes won’t follow the same exact format every time, but none of the classes will contain any running or jogging. Rebecca explained in her Instagram Live that these classes are a low impact way to take a bootcamp and will be easier on your joints than a traditional bootcamp.
So far Rebecca is the only instructor listed on the Tread Bootcamp schedule with any hiking bootcamp classes; however, it is possible that additional instructors could teach this class style in the future. Rebecca also shared that she will continue to teach her hiking classes outside of her hiking bootcamps, and her regular Tread bootcamps as well. You can find traditional hiking classes by navigating to the Walking modality and filtering by “hiking” in the class type menu.
