Peloton confirms the Peloton Tread+ will cost $5,995 when it is re-released “soon”

This morning, Peloton released their FY 2024 Q1 earnings data, and is scheduled to hold an earnings call discussing the data shortly.

As part of the letter to investors, Peloton gave more exact pricing for the Peloton Tread+. During last quarter’s earnings call, Peloton had stated the Tread+ would cost around $6,000. In today’s earnings letter, the company got a little more exact about the number.

Specifically, the letter shared that the Peloton Tread+ will cost $5,995 when it is re-released – which it teased as “soon”. The full quote about it was:

That bet is part of our strategy to expand our TAM by offering a broad range of connected fitness products for anyone, anytime, anywhere, with a range of price points from our free tier to our most expensive connected fitness hardware, the soon to be reintroduced, Tread+ (priced at $5,995).

This is inline with what was said last quarter, when Peloton stated it would be roughly $6,000.

While Peloton did get more exact on the pricing, they didn’t reveal any more information about the release date. The company previously stated that “Peloton plans to resume sales of the Tread+ this holiday season with the first deliveries taking place in early 2024”.

Today, they simply said “soon” for the release date – so it seems like they are still on track for the holiday timelines, but didn’t provide any more specific guidance.

As a reminder, Peloton has said that the first 10,000 or so Tread+ are expected to be fulfilled by “existing inventory” – which is those Tread+ they previously manufactured and have had in warehouses while the device has been recalled. Those first 10,000 or so orders are expected to ship within 6 weeks of sales resuming.

Once the first 10,000 or so Tread+ have been sold, deliveries might take slightly longer, as Peloton will have to work with their manufacturing partners to get new Tread+ built & configured – since it has more than 2.5 years since a Tread+ has been sold.

Peloton has also recently said they do not plan to offer a trade in program for those wanting to trade in their Tread for a Tread+.
