Amidst all of its other recent announcements, Peloton quietly raised the prices for its monthly original Bike+ rental program.
The price increases not only affect the rental program in the United States, but also the programs in Canada and the United Kingdom.
Before October 1, United States customers could rent the original Bike+ for $119 per month with a $150 setup and delivery fee. The monthly rental cost includes a Peloton Rental Membership (essentially the same as All-Access), which allows members to take both live and on-demand classes. Rental program members are also provided a complimentary pair of Peloton cycling shoes.
While the membership and shoes are still part of the rental program, U.S. rental program members will now pay $125 per month for the original Bike+, with the setup/delivery fee remaining the same ($150) and the cycling shoes still included.
Peloton recently increased the price of the All-Access membership by $5/month in the US – so it’s not entirely surprising they increased their rental costs as well. However, in some countries, the rental price rose by much more than the membership price increase.
In addition to the United States, both Canada and the United Kingdom rental program members will see their prices increase. The rental program pricing updates for all three countries are as follows:
| Country | Rental Price Before October 1 | Rental Price As of October 1 | Delivery & Setup Fee (unchanged) | Cycling Shoes Included? |
| United States | $119 per month | $125 per month | $150 | Yes |
| Canada | $169 CAD per month | $174.99 CAD per mont | $250 CAD | Yes |
| United Kingdom | £99 per month | £125 per month | £200 (called a “joining fee”) | Yes |
Rental program members still have the option of buying out their rented original Bike+ at any point during their rental program. The buyout price depends on when the buyout occurs in the rental cycle. Peloton has put together buyout cost charts for its U.S., Canadian, and UK rental program members (scroll to the bottom of the rental program pages for the charts).

The price increases came a little over a year after Peloton removed the original Bike from its rental program. While rental prices for the original Bike were less expensive than those of the original Bike+, Peloton cited “[in]sufficient inventory to support the original Bike program” as the primary reason for terminating the program. Additionally, Peloton members in Germany saw their equipment options reduced when Peloton ended direct equipment sales and rentals in Germany and encouraged German members to purchase their equipment on third-party websites such as Amazon.
The rental program price increases come on the heels of Peloton introducing its Cross Training Series of equipment: in essence, a refresh of its previous equipment with the addition of tailored tracking features and Peloton IQ, its custom training software. (Peloton is making a serious push into AI, as evidenced by its announcement of its soon-to-be-completed app integration with ChatGPT.)
At press time, only the original Bike+ will be available for rental. Those wanting the Cross Training Bike+ will have to purchase it outright from Peloton. That said, if the Cross Training Bike+ proves a popular seller, one could see Peloton making it available in the rental program, albeit at a higher monthly rental price point.
