According to Peloton CEO Peter Stern, innovation in both hardware & software is crucial for the company’s future growth.
On Peloton’s Q3 2025 earnings call, Stern repeatedly emphasized the importance of updating and evolving Peloton’s connected fitness equipment; not just its software or content offerings. In his prepared remarks, he noted:
“We see further opportunities to keep winning cardio by delivering innovative software, hardware and even more engaging content. We’ll share more about our innovation roadmap later this calendar year.”
While Peloton has rolled out software updates and new content features at a steady pace, Stern made it clear that the hardware side of the business also needs renewed focus. In response to a question from an analyst, Stern elaborated:
“We’ve got to start innovating on our hardware. We’ve been doing a great job on software, but it’s all got to come together as a mix of hardware and software and incredible content that we’ve got, so that our members derive even more value from us and they’ve got reasons to buy more from Peloton.”
That last point – “giving members reasons to buy more” – hints at possible new products or enhancements to existing equipment. While Stern did not provide specifics, his comments suggest that hardware upgrades will be part of Peloton’s strategy to return to growth after a period of restructuring and market challenges.
In a more recent discussion at the Bank of America Global Tech Conference last week, Stern went on to share that he would plan to share the product roadmap later this fall – in the August to November timeframe. He said:
[I’m] not here today to announce the the future product roadmap of the company. I think we’ll do that a few weeks after the the the fourth quarter earnings because I think I’d like to separate it in time. We’ll do earnings. We’ll tell the growth story with even more specificity and give you a sense of what to expect in ’26. But then a few weeks after that, leading into the holidays, that’s the moment, I think, to tell that innovation story in a more consumer media oriented way. So that that investment in innovation is gonna be the first part that drives average revenue per member.
Back in the earnings call, Stern also linked the recent hiring of Charles Kirol as Chief Operating Officer (COO) to these efforts. According to Stern:
“Regarding the hiring of Charles Kirol as our COO, we’re specifically focused on improving our pace of innovation, the agility that we have in our supply chain, especially given the economic uncertainty that’s out there in the marketplace, the quality of our products, in particular the quality of our installs, and the cost of our connected fitness equipment, so we can appeal to even more potential new members. And that commitment to improving every aspect of our equipment will help deliver a critical part of our magic formula.”

What exactly “hardware innovation” means remains an open question. Could it mean entirely new equipment, such as a brand new strength device? Or is Peloton looking at enhancements to existing platforms, such as integrating the Guide camera directly into the Bike+? We have previously reported signs of a new tablet in development that may incorporate features from the Guide. Peloton also has recently made filings with the FCC for two new screens. Perhaps Peloton is pursuing an “all of the above” approach that looks at debuting new hardware devices and enhancing existing products.
For now, members will have to wait to see what is included in the “innovation roadmap” Stern promised to share later this calendar year. Nonetheless, Peloton is signaling that hardware remains a priority for the company.

With higher resolution recording being added to the studios, I would anticipate at a minimum they are going to release higher resolution tablets. They REALLY need it for the Tread+. Building in a Guide camera in addition might be enough for some to pay to upgrade, me included.
