Peloton Leadership Changes: New COO (Charles Kirol), Search For CIO, CCO Promotion & More

Peloton has announced a number of leadership changes. These are the first major changes under new Peloton CEO Peter Stern – who stepped into the role as of January 1st.

Peloton says that these changes will “reinforce the company’s focus on improving Member outcomes by enabling rapid innovation, meeting Members everywhere through channel expansion, making Members for life by delivering superior service experiences, and improving unit economics and cost management.”

The first change is the addition of Charles Kirol as Peloton Chief Operating Officer – a new role at the company. He will be responsible for “supply chain, cost management, information technology, and achieving operational excellence.”

Kirol previously worked at iRobot, holding the positions of Executive Vice President, Chief Global Operations and Technology Officer, and is Rear Admiral in the US Navy Reserve.

CEO Peter Stern said the following about Kirol:

“With his extensive manufacturing and operational experience across both the private and public sectors, Charles has a proven track record of leadership that will be invaluable to Peloton as we continue to transform our business and work to empower millions of Peloton Members to live fit, strong, long, and happy. His vision, world-class understanding of manufacturing, and exceptional ability to inspire teams make him uniquely qualified to help lead our operations.”

As part of the transition and Kirol joining the team, Peloton’s Chief Supply Chain Officer (Andy Rendich) will leave the company. He will remain in an advisory role through the end of the fiscal year (June).

In addition to the COO / supply chain changes, Peloton also announced that they will begin a search for a Chief Information Officer (CIO). This role will report to Kirol and “oversee Peloton’s information technology strategy, operations, and infrastructure.” Peloton’s previous CIO was Shobhana Ahluwalia, who left the company in 2022.

Finally, Peloton is making some changes around their commercial teams. Dion Camp Sanders has been promoted to the role of Chief Commercial Officer – having formerly been the Chief Emerging Business Officre. This promotion was in recognition of his “central role in returning Peloton to growth, including his responsibility for first-party retail, inside sales, third-party retail, bike rental and sales of pre-owned refurbished equipment, international strategy and operations, B2B channels, Precor, M&A, and business development.
