Peloton Repowered: Peloton’s New Secondary Marketplace for Buying & Selling Used Bikes, Treads, Rows Beta Launch

Peloton is taking ownership of the resale experience for its hardware devices with the beta launch of Peloton Repowered, its first branded secondary marketplace, for select markets.

UpdatePeloton Repowered officially launched on July 29th after ~2 months in beta.

According to Peloton, this initiative is designed to make it easier, safer, and more rewarding for Members and prospective Members to buy and sell used Peloton equipment & accessories – while reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and circular consumption.

Until now, customers looking to offload or purchase used Peloton hardware devices were largely left to navigate the uncertainties of third-party peer-to-peer platforms. With Peloton Repowered, Peloton aims to eliminate those potential pain points by centralizing the resale process and providing built-in benefits for both buyers and sellers.

Currently in beta for sellers located in New York City, Boston, and Washington D.C. as of June 2, 2025, the platform allows users to list their used Peloton hardware devices – such as the Bike, Bike+, Tread, and Row – as well as various Peloton accessories for sale. The platform does not currently support the selling of used Tread+ devices.

Note that currently only the selling functionality is available; however, buyers will be able to begin shopping in the coming weeks, with a full launch planned soon and a nationwide expansion expected later this summer.

The selling process is designed to be as straightforward and rewarding as possible. Sellers start by selecting the equipment they would like to list. They will receive a suggested price based on the item’s condition and original value, but are free to set their own price within a given range.

Once a buyer accepts the offer and the item is delivered or picked up, sellers will earn 70% of the final sale price. In addition to cash earnings, sellers who offload hardware through the platform will also receive exclusive discounts on new Peloton products, as outlined below:

  • $400 off a new Bike+
  • $200 off a new Tread
  • $600 off a new Tread+
  • $200 off a new Row

This incentive structure provides an upgrade path that keeps Members engaged with Peloton even after offloading their hardware device.

Buyers, in turn, benefit from what Peloton maintains is a more transparent and trustworthy resale experience than what is typically available on peer-to-peer marketplaces such as Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. Buyers will also receive the following benefits:

  • $50 off the used equipment activation fee
  • Access to the Peloton History Summary, which details how frequently the equipment has been used and maintained
  • Buyer protection through Peloton’s platform partner

Once the marketplace opens for purchasing, users will be able to browse listings, add items to their cart, and arrange for pickup or professional delivery. Accessories will either be delivered alongside equipment or shipped separately via prepaid USPS label, depending on how the item is purchased. Pickup is available for no additional fee, while delivery will have an extra fee added on top of the price listed on the site.

For those concerned about safety and privacy, sellers can choose a public pickup location, and buyers will only see a general radius – not the exact address – of where to retrieve the item.

Peloton Repowered is part of the company’s broader commitment to sustainability. As described on the marketplace site, Peloton aims to “enable circular consumption, reduce waste, and extend the life of our products.” The platform is operated in partnership with Archive, a third-party resale solution provider.

With Repowered, Peloton now has a centralized, branded ecosystem to support both the selling and buying sides of the equation, aiming to offer an elevated level of assurance and security, especially compared to informal, unregulated resale platforms.

While Repowered is currently limited to sellers in NYC, Boston, and Washington D.C., Peloton plans to roll out the service nationwide later this summer.

The full buyer functionality will become available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, users can visit repowered.onepeloton.com to list equipment, explore FAQs, or sign up to be notified when the purchasing portal opens.

By launching Peloton Repowered, Peloton is doing more than simply facilitating second hand sales – they are attempting to take more control of the secondary market by establishing a more secure, seamless, and sustainable way to buy, sell, and reuse Peloton hardware devices.

This builds on previous changes Peloton has made to the used marketplace, such as adding a used device activation fee and creating the history summary tool.

We will share updates on Peloton Repowered as new information becomes available; but in the meantime you can find all the details via https://repowered.onepeloton.com/.

Update – This article originally said the Tread+ was available to be bought & sold on the platform – that is not the case at this time.

30 percent of every sales goes to Peloton just for providing the platform? Why would anyone go that route if he or she can sell her Peloton equipment on eBay or other sites where they get to keep the whole money? I think, a 10 percent provision would have been okay, but this is just ridiculous
