Peloton temporarily pausing all sales in Northern Ireland due to Brexit

Peloton has posted a notice on their website that they will be pausing sales of new Peloton Bikes & Bike+ temporarily as of January 1st, 2021. This is so that Peloton can “update our systems and processes in response to Brexit.”

Bikes ordered before January 1st, 2021 should still get delivered – so it sounds like Peloton will just be removing the “Buy” button for bikes. The page doesn’t mention the just-released new lower cost Tread anywhere – so it’s not clear if this will be impacted since deliveries aren’t supposed to start until Feb 1, 2021 anyway. The apparel store will remain open however, for anyone who wants Peloton branded merch.

The website also states existing members and people who already have had their Bikes delivered should not be impacted by the pause in new sales. “You can continue to use your Peloton Membership in Northern Ireland and we do not have any reason to believe that Brexit will impact this in any way.”

As of right now, this only impacts Northern Ireland, not any other part of the UK. Peloton also clarifies they know Northern Ireland is part of the UK:

Although Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, Brexit has presented complex and far-reaching implications for all businesses that operate in multiple markets. We appreciate your patience as we work to resume full service in a safe and responsible manner.

There is no confirmed date as to when Peloton will be able to reopen sales in Northern Ireland. Peloton states that they will “will continue to monitor the latest developments and work to get our normal service back up and running. If you would like to be contacted by a member of our team when sales & deliveries resume, please contact a sales executive on +44 808 169 6469, selecting option 1 for sales. ”

At this time, Peloton says they will continue to make service & warranty calls for bikes in Northern Ireland, even while new sales are paused. However, “if our service technicians are unable to fix your Bike, we will endeavour to get a replacement to you as soon as possible, however there may be some delays. ”

The best place to check for updates will be on Peloton’s new FAQ page on the topic.
