Peloton Announces Partnership with Guardian Life Insurance Company

Peloton has announced a new partnership with the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian). The companies shared the news via press release:

Building on its commitment to inspire well-being, The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America® (Guardian) announced eligible Group Benefits members will now have access to a curated suite of Instructor-led Peloton classes and wellness articles. These resources will be available for on-demand viewing through GuardianWell™, beginning in January.

GuardianWell is Guardian’s digital wellness hub. Through GuardianWell, Guardian members will receive access to Peloton classes and wellness articles. In other words, members don’t appear to be gaining access to the Peloton app through this partnership; but select classes that will be accessible through the Guardian platform. In addition, “wellness articles” could refer to Peloton’s blog posts.

Another feature of the partnership is the inclusion of a complimentary six-month Peloton App One Membership for members with an approved long-term disability claim. This benefit is reportedly the first of its kind offered by a workplace benefits provider, and is designed to support members’ recovery journeys. The press release points out that the Peloton App offers classes tailored to various wellness needs, including stretching, mobility, meditation, and strength training, enabling members to work at their own pace.

The partnership announcement also focuses heavily on the connection between physical and emotional health. According to Guardian’s Mind, Body, and Wallet report, only one-third of Americans rate their physical or mental health as “excellent” or “very good,” with nearly half of those reporting low emotional health also describing their physical health as poor.

Greg Hybl, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Peloton for Business, emphasized the value of personalized wellness solutions in the press release, saying:

“We know that no fitness journey is exactly the same. Meeting people where they are is critical to setting them up for success. We’re excited to welcome Guardian members onto the Peloton platform to continue making wellness more accessible.”

The Peloton content, available through GuardianWell starting this month, will be regularly updated, offering a range of resources focusing on the connection between physical and mental health.

Peloton has partnered with insurance companies before, including AIA Insurance in Australia, UHC / United Health Care, and more.
