Peloton has released its long awaited New York City Marathon scenic course runs on on the Peloton Tread & Tread+.

These are featured within a brand new “NYRR Collection” – which features 14 classes. This is a combination of the new marathon classes, as well as some previous NYRR related classes from last year.
The official collection description reads:
Join us for an adventure through the vibrant streets of New York City with this set of classes crafted in collaboration with New York Road Runners (NYRR).

Brand new this week are classes recorded from the 2023 NYC marathon courses. This includes a single scenic run that takes you through the entire marathon course in one go. This class is time-based – a 150-minute (aka 2.5 hour) scenic class with music from Peloton Radio. This class includes real-time incline cues that match the incline of the actual course. This class is at “pro-run” speed, so for most of us, the speed we see the video will be slightly faster than our own marathon pace.
The full class description for this new class reads:
“Experience the TCS New York City Marathon at the speed of the pro-athletes as you run through the 5 boroughs. Look out for our Peloton instructors at the mile 20 Peloton Cheer Zone to give you that final boost to the finish line.”
This class can be also found under Experiences, Scenic Runs, then the “Time” category.

Also included in the collection are new guided scenic marathon content including five 30-minute classes that take you through different sections of the official NYC Marathon course. Each of these Parts 1-5 classes are narrated by different Peloton instructors who have run the TCS NYC Marathon in the past: Jeffrey McEachern, Robin Arzón, Selena Samuela, Mariana Fernández, and Becs Gentry. These classes all became available on demand on April 24 at 10 AM ET.
There are also two new distance-based NYC Marathon classes in the NYRR Collection & Scenic Run area: the first 5K of the course and a 1-mile run along 5th Avenue.

As a reminder, all the scenic runs (Guided, Distance, and Time-based) are only available to take on Peloton’s Tread/Tread+. However, the Outdoor 5 Boro Runs can be taken on the Peloton app. Being able to take the Outdoor runs on the Tread is a new development as of just this week.
Peloton published a blog about the ability to “Run the TCS New York City Marathon Course on Peloton Tread and Tread+” which gives more background on the NYC Marathon’s popularity and how these Peloton classes were created.

“The NYRR Collection on Peloton is a series of scenic classes shot on-course to bring the magic of the TCS New York City Marathon to life. Train as if you were on the real course with auto-incline functionality that lets you feel the changes in gradient on your Tread or Tread+. Using available information about the course and terrain, Peloton’s team of experts mimicked the fluctuations in the course to create a first-of-its-kind experience.”
Peloton CEO Barry McCarthy teased earlier in 2024 about forthcoming class content that would cater towards “performance athletes,” and these new scenic NYC Marathon runs seem to be part of that. But even if you’re not training for a big race, you can immerse yourself in what it’s like to be in New York City on the big day.
All of these classes are a continuation of Peloton’s partnership with the New York Road Runners (NYRR) which was announced before the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon.
