Peloton “Hack the Commute” Collection & Initiative

Peloton has announced a new programming initiative in the United Kingdom called “Hack the Commute.”

Peloton shared some details & research they conducted, saying:

Brits spend more than an hour a day commuting to and from work “just waiting to arrive,” which is time that could be used to incorporate movement and mindfulness, new Peloton research reveals.
The research conducted by the fitness lifestyle company verifies that, on average, the British public dedicates 64 minutes to commuting each day, with at least two unexpected delays accounting for 22 minutes. This entire experience not only represents a wasted portion of each day, but is also disliked by over half of the public.

They go on to state that to help with this, they have created a “Hack the Commute” collection of classes, as well was gathering some tips from some of the various Peloton instructors. The classes & collection are “designed to help Brits shift their mindsets around the commute, making it easy – and even enjoyable – to add fitness into this otherwise wasted time.”

Peloton’s new Hack the Commute initiative is designed to transform the mundane and often stressful daily commute into an opportunity for wellness and productivity.

Peloton held a kickoff event at Peloton Studios London (PSL) on February 7th, 2024, with a warm-up and a 5K outdoor run. Several U.K. instructors posted about the gathering on Instagram.

The central piece of content behind the initiative is a new collection called “Hack the Commute.” The collection contains classes across multiple modalities such as outdoor runs and walks, stretches, meditations, and walking meditations. As of publishing time the collection contains 37 classes, and the official description reads:

Turn your commute into a positive daily ritual with on-the-go fitness and mindfulness classes that blend seamlessly with your journey — making the time spent getting to and from work more fun, fulfilling and balanced.

The post offers practical tips and strategies for transforming the daily commute into a positive and fulfilling experience. From incorporating mindfulness practices to staying active during travel, the blog post aims to provide commuters with actionable steps they can take to enhance their well-being on the go.

U.K. General Manager Amanda Gilmore provided the below quote about the new initiative:

“Brits are overlooking an opportunity to transform their overall fitness and wellness routine. Rethinking how we use the commute has the potential to bring about improvements to mood, productivity, and daily enjoyment – and can propel people towards mental and fitness goals that could have a real impact on their everyday well-being.”
