2023 marks ten years of Peloton’s Turkey Burn classes, and they are trying to break two Guinness world records for the largest live cycling class and the largest live running class. Peloton sent an email to members sharing the news:

Update 2Peloton successfully set both Guinness world records. Details here.

Update 1 – Peloton was having server issues during this class. Details here.

To further incentivize members to join the classes live, Peloton is offering an exclusive, one-day-only personal record badge. Any member who sets a new personal best during the live Turkey Burn ride or run (and presumably any time later that day as well, but that isn’t confirmed) will earn a special badge as well.

Peloton’s current record for the most live members on a Turkey Burn class – or any class on the Peloton platform, for that matter – is from Robin Arzón’s ride in 2020, which had more than 50,000 members riding live. Peloton’s email indicates they are trying to break this record, as ridership was slightly down from 2020 in both 2021 and 2022. However, it’s not clear at this time if Peloton’s 2020 ride was submitted for the Guinness World record or not.

Peloton has broken the world record in the past, including in 2017 when only 10,000 live riders was a record-setting class.

We previously shared that her annual Turkey Burn ride would be Robin’s first class back. Peloton has also sent gifts to some members in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Turkey Burn. Members have started receiving the gift, revealing that it is a turkey hat!

Many thanks to @besteveryet2.0 and @cspin731 for sharing pictures of the gifts. For those wondering about the impetus for a turkey hat, Peloton has shared the below comment via social media:

Dressing up in fun outfits for Turkey Trots in local communities and for our annual Turkey Burn classes is a tradition. We were inspired by this tradition and sent these hats out to get Members excited for Turkey burn. While you don’t have to use the hat, we do hope you’re still able to enjoy Turkey Burn!
