Peloton will provide “ample notice” if they stop supporting the Peloton Guide or raise price of Guide membership

Following Peloton’s recent announcement that they will stop selling the Peloton Guide, the company has communicated information to current Guide users to provide greater transparency around the device’s future.

While Peloton has confirmed the product is no longer for sale, they are reassuring current owners that the Guide remains fully functional for now – with access to all classes remaining as usual – and that no immediate changes are coming to membership pricing or feature availability.

In a message to Guide owners, Peloton emphasized that support is still in place for the device, stating:

“Peloton will still support the Guide functionality and you will still be able to access any class available on your Guide. Should there be any future changes, we commit to providing ample notice in advance.”

Though the company has not specified how long Guide support will continue, this language means they will at least give owners some notice before major changes, such as completely sunsetting the product or ending access to classes.

The message also addresses membership fees. Peloton says the cost of the Guide-specific membership is not changing at this time:

“Your Membership price will not change at this time as a result of us no longer selling this product. Your current Membership fees reflect the value of the ongoing features, support, and warranty coverage we continue to provide for your Guide. If we ever decide to change the price of your Membership, you will receive notice 30 days in advance.”

Notably, this echoes earlier comments from Peloton leadership. During the latest Peloton earnings call, CEO Peter Stern indicated that a potential price increase for the All-Access Membership is still on the table – but no final decision has been made.

As for software updates, Peloton says Guide owners will continue to see some product enhancements for now as well. They stated that they will “continue to roll out certain product launches for Guide and will continue to update the Guide software accordingly.” Similar to other wording, they commit to providing “ample notice” if that changes.

Additionally, members who previously canceled their Guide membership (or who buy a used Guide and are activating one for the first time) can still reactivate it, for now:

“If you cancel or have canceled your membership you can reactivate your Guide membership at any time while it is available. Should there be any future changes, we commit to providing ample notice in advance.”

The reality of product development these days is that no tech product will remain supported indefinitely. These messages from Peloton seek to ease the mind of current owners. However, the wording provided means that Peloton could post in a few months they will be sunsetting the product in 30 days – and thus have provided “ample notice” of the end of support.

At this point, Peloton has given no guidance as to how long support will continue – whether it will be months, or years – just that they will provide notice to members when this support changes.

We will share any updates regarding Peloton’s support of the Guide as new information becomes available.
