New Peloton features to let you block users and hide leaderboard tags (moderation tools) being tested

New reports indicate that Peloton is testing new moderation tools for the Peloton community, starting in a very limited beta test.

Update – This feature is now going live for all members. You can see more details and images here.

The first part of this new update is a long-requested feature from members: the ability to block people on the leaderboard.

While members can follow others who have profiles – friends, family, coworkers, celebrities, etc. – on the Peloton platform, there is currently no ability to block people the way there is on social media. This means that if there is someone you do not wish to see on the leaderboard, there is no way to prevent them from appearing on your screen or being able to send you high-fives.

This has been a requested feature from members for many years. It consistently is at the top of feature requests polls, whenever they are posted on various social media platforms.

This new feature would prevent members from seeing any blocked Peloton users on the leaderboard and receiving high-fives from them, and would also mean that you will be invisible to any users you’ve blocked, similar to how blocking works on most social media platforms.

Users who are blocked would not be able to view your profile anymore – and wouldn’t get a notification that you have blocked them either.

A second part of the feature would allow members to hide any Peloton leaderboard tags that you don’t want to see.

Beyond the ability to block Peloton members and hide leaderboard tags, there will also be a way for members to go back in and unblock members and tags. So making the decision to block isn’t permanent – you’ll have the ability to go back in and manage and change who is blocked or what tags are hidden.

Note that we’re hearing this appears to be a very limited beta test at this point, with just a small percentage of Peloton users getting access to the feature at this time. If and when this feature is released more widely, we’ll be sure to share.

Would you take advantage of the ability to block people on the Peloton leaderboard if this feature rolls out?

Community very positive and welcoming so not sure why demand to block members?

I agree…seems like a respectable place for fitness minded enthusiasts.

I’d much rather have the ability to disable all the ridiculous “milestones”. I get constant alerts during a ride that it’s someone’s 7th ride, 3rd day in a row, that they tied their own shoelaces that morning…..
I’d much prefer to disable them entirely or stick to actual milestones (for example, multiples of 100). The rest are just annoying and distracting.

I guess this is more for those who have a bad breakup or divorce and no longer want your ex to see you. I suppose there are a few stalkers out there as well . . .
