Peloton has officially launched their newest class type: “Extra Steps” classes.
So far, four Extra Steps classes have dropped. Peloton describes this type of walking class as: “Fun, BPM-driven sessions that’ll have you moving to the beat while you work toward your fitness goals.”
Classes vary in length and beats per minute (BPM) of the music playlist so that you are guided to achieve a certain number of steps.
The classes that have dropped so far are:
- 10 min. Extra Steps Walk: ~1250 Steps (150 BPM) – Rebecca Kennedy – 3/15/25 @ 12 AM ET
- 15 min. Extra Steps Walk: ~1950 Steps (130 BPM) – Kirsten Ferguson – 3/15/25 @ 12 AM ET
- 20 min. Extra Steps Walk: ~2500 Steps (125 BPM) – Joslyn Thompson Rule – 3/15/25 @ 1 AM ET
- 20 min. Extra Steps Walk: ~2500 Steps (125 BPM) [German] – Jeffrey McEachern – 3/15/25 @ 1 AM ET

An example of the description for an Extra Steps walking class is:
“Get your steps in! Walk to the beat of the music, letting the 125 BPM guide your pace to achieve around 2,500 steps. Stack this class once you have already warmed up.”
Similar to the general Extra 10 class concept, these classes are intended to be stacked and added after you have already warmed up and/or worked out.

It seems likely that Peloton will continue to vary the combination of Extra Steps class lengths and BPM to achieve other amounts of steps down the road.
All of these new Extra Steps walking classes have been added to a new Peloton class collection to make finding them easier. As of right now, there is no class type filter under the Walking classes to show Extra Steps classes. Perhaps this filter will get added in the future.
These were first announced in Peloton’s March Workouts to Watch email earlier this month.

Love this. Especially since my walk to work is about 20-25 minutes and so 15 min is too short and a 30 min walk is too long. I will be using these often!!!
