Peloton’s Custom Volume Slider Feature Is Added Back

Peloton has quietly turned back on the custom audio slider feature.

This feature, which was first added in March of 2024, allows members to have greater control over the audio balance of classes. It was removed in November as Peloton tried to fix a bug related to the audio glitching when the feature was used. At the time, they said they expected the feature to be back “the first week of January.”

Just under 2 months later – the feature is being added back. However, it does require a software update to re-enable it, so if you don’t see it back on your device, try going into your settings on the Peloton device and check for an update.

Prior to this feature being added last year, the only options for controlling the audio mix were a “More Instructor” button, as well as a “More Music” button – which would shift the mix one way or another from the “Default” level.

The custom audio slider lets you fine tune that control – and shift the mix of music vs instructor more towards your liking. In addition to simply allowing more fine tuned control – it also has a stronger effect than just the simple “More Instructor” and “More Music.” In other words – using the custom slider and sliding it all the way towards the music side will turn down the instructor more so than if you were to just use the “More Music” button.

Initial reports are that members who had issues with the audio glitching and being out of sync after using the slider do seem to be fixed after this update. Should there be reports of issues, we will be sure to share.

Any idea when it is coming to the rower? My software is up to date and I can’t wait to turn off some of the instructors.
