Peloton Cancels Classes in New York Due to Air Quality / Smoke from Canadian Wildfires for morning of June 8th, 2023

Peloton has canceled all classes at PSNY through mid-day on June 8th, 2023. Peloton has confirmed this is due to the air quality & smoke impacting New York City currently due to the wildfires in Canada.

Peloton shared the following message about the cancellations, saying:

As we monitor the air quality in NYC due to the wildfires in Canada, we have decided to cancel classes tomorrow morning at Peloton Studios New York. We will be resuming at 1pm ET and are continuing to monitor the situation. As of now, Member classes will continue as scheduled this weekend.

The situation is so bad that the FAA is delyaing and pausing flights at certain airports due to reduced visiblity in the area.

The New York government has issued air quality health alerts, and people are advised to stay inside or limit time outdoors.

As mentioned in the message from Peloton, they are aware that members, who may have flown in from around the country, are scheduled to take in-studio classes starting Thursday night and throughout the weekend.

At this time, no other classes are canceled – so all classes scheduled to have members should currently go on as planned at this time.

We’ll provide an update if further updates are provided or more classes cancelled, and hope everyone in the area stay safe.
